Re: Which company has the best style of walk test?

Although I am not a technician who works on systems for a living, Simplex walk test seems the most intuitive.

I don't even think EST panels have built in walk test modes. Maybe a tech can confirm this.

I'll never forget our old friend, the overhead projector:
On a similar note, whenever you walked into the classroom and saw the big rolling TV cart there, you knew class was going to be fun.

Re: I'm so old I remember when...

Like most of the older members here, I remember when TFP (then known as the Schumin Web Community) and the DFA were "rival" forums. Despite the fact that the DFA ran a tight ship, it was definitely the place to be for fire alarm discussion during the early 2010s. I remember being more active on that...

Perhaps you've already found it, but this article would definitely be relevant to your topic.
Can we talk about the 10 people who couldn't recognize a car horn on page 14?

For real though, I wonder what would happen if this took place today, since code 3 has been the standard for a while now.

Re: collection starter

Does anyone on this forum own that stainless steel pull station? It looks like it has a similar mechanism to the BG-1/BG-8.

Re: High Fidelity speaker?

I would assume it's for installations in which the the voice evacuation system would also be used for paging and/or music (with the alarm signal taking priority, of course). Some jurisdictions allow this.

Re: Cruise ship fire alarms

But also they use traditional fire alarm horns? One thing to note about big cruise ships is that most of them are registered in other countries due to excessive taxation and regulations in the US. As a result, the ship's fixtures and equipment usually mirror those of their home country. If the ship...

Don't forget to make sure the lamp is polarized before hooking it up to the NAC.

Re: Favorite pull station?

It's been said before, but my vote for most practical goes to the dual action RSG pull stations.

Reasons:
1. Made of metal
2. The dual action mechanism actually makes it harder to activate by accident, unlike the BG-12 which can be activated with a rogue elbow
3. Inexpensive

Re: PA announcements mentioning the fire alarm.

They would never announce fire drills at my school, which was actually a good thing. However, our fire alarm system (Simplex 4100) seemed to have a lot of problems for some reason. Whenever it was broken and they had to fix it, they would announce "Please disregard the fire alarm; we are working on ...

For me it would have to be a red Wheelock WST-24 strobe.
