Re: What are some things that the General Public misconceives about Fire Alarms that drive you crazy?

The fact that people still believe one sprinkler head activates them all is still a very common misconception. That's fine and all, the frustration for me comes from the fact that most people won't give you the time of day for an explanations and would rather just believe their original thoughts.

Re: Fire, Inclement Weather, Lockdown, and Other Disaster Prevention Drills for the 2018-2019 School Year

So it is basically a lock down drill then. OK. That is good to know. ALICE actually throws the idea of lockdown out the window. It's interesting to read up on, and I've helped organize and run several training sessions with campus public safety the past two years - it advocates a much more active r...

Re: Revert the forum theme

Not at this time. The old theme was ultimately temporary following some compatibility issues between our orignal theme and our PHPBB software - it has always been our intention to refresh the forum with a clean, modern theme to serve our evolving community. We on the forum staff are putting a lot of...

Re: No "Mark posts as read" Button

Cool it, buddy. We have several great staff members working diligently to implement a new theme - none of it happens overnight. This is the third or fourth post I have seen from you on this subject. Like I said in one of my previous posts, you will have to deal with certain anomalies and poor site p...

Re: Revert the forum theme

We definitely hear all of you - we are currently working on the theme, so much of what you see is a work-in-progress as we go through various styles. We figured its better to keep the forums available to you all throughout the changes than to lock it out for maintenance - hopefully dealing with some...

Re: Make Up a System (2.0)

This is the setup of Oakland elementary school which is in the same district as WC Petty and sort of has a bit of a different system setup when it comes to alarms. I actually know both of these schools in reality ... it would be interesting to check to see how close the made up systems are to the r...

Re: collection starter

What are the horns though? It's really not necessary to press for every detail in these topics. If that information was readily available, I'm sure it would have been provided the first time you asked. I know you have a strong interest in these systems and enjoy contributing to this forum, but plea...

Re: Simplex 4010 piezo disable

Hello. Can you please confirm with us whether this panel is on an isolated "demonstration" system, or if it is an active life safety system protecting a building? We want to stay away from offering advice on potentially hazardous modifications to an active system. Thank you!

Re: 4901-9816 problem

The 9816 uses a newer Faraday mechanism, in which a circuit board replaced the mechanical contacts that generated the electromagnet pulses on older models. The older contacts created very smooth and even pulses, so the vibration of the horn's plate was regular and had a clear sound. Unfortunately, t...

Re: Worst Fire Alarm Panel?

I'm curious to hear what makes the Simplex 4100+ your least favorite? From my experience on these forums, a lot of "hobby" users point the finger at Simplex addressable equipment for being proprietary and generally inaccessible to hobbyists. Unfortunately, this disregards the incredible (in my opin...
