The time has come- Selling most of my collection.
Life has moved on for me, and I haven't found myself as interested in this hobby for a fairly long time. I'll still be around in the community, but after a recent car accident and the fact I'll be moving out, I need to shed some weight and part with my collection. I've already listed a few lots and ...

Re: What does "power limited circuit" mean?
Power-limited wiring refers to a circuit whose voltage is inherently limited. For fire alarm panels, the circuit voltages are limited to 24V by the transformer, hence the designations as a "power limited circuit." Non-power limited circuits, such as household 120V circuits, are subject to potential...

Re: Simplex 2001 Trouble
Hello everyone I recently acquired a Simplex 2001 panel. I have this panel right now on my bench just trying to get it to a normal state. I managed to install the correct valve resistors for the zone card and NAC card and have everything clear , except the system trouble light on the 2001-1007 cont...

Re: Which pull station should I use in my next system test?
I actually think that this topic should be in the User Created Fire Alarm Media board rather than here since it has to do with you creating a new system test. I agree. Moderators can move it if they want; I don't feel like making the thread all over again. It might just get more views in that secti...

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)
I find that its rarer for me to see a Simplex 4903-9101 strobe that is on the bottom rather than the top. I only saw the strobe on the bottom of one once and that was in my high school cafetorium kitchen. On 2903s and those 4903s you can flip the lens and install them upside down. They weren't made...

Re: System sensor spectralert advances
I don't know why people think that Advances are "annoying". They make a high pitch, loud noise that is designed to alert people of a fire. Just like almost anything else produced in the last 20 years.

Re: Wheelock 7002T-24 Issue: Help!
All batteries are "filtered" DC. No battery will ever output FWR.MattsCorner123 wrote:Are you running it on filtered DC, or full wave rectified? Usually 7002Ts, and other mechanical horns will sound raspy if powered with full wave rectified DC.

Re: Firex 120-557C Without Horn?
It appears to be modified due to those holes drilled through the plastic case. It looks like the horn would be located on top of those three metal contacts to the right of the LEDs. No idea why it would have been removed, though.

Love that SC715D1032! Own a chime-only version, and I've only ever seen one with a light lens. Where did you find them?

Re: is your area polluted with spectralerts?
I am guessing the lens will snap through and will be difficult to remove without a tool or a clip inside. Ex. Spectra classic's mounting bracket clip or a 400 series smoke's locking tab

Re: EXTREMELY RARE:EDWARDS 271-SPO
I have never seen a 271-SPO either. 270-SPO pulls are extremely common but I have never seen one without the glass break rod feature. Anyways, the switch from a 270-SPO should fit in this pull and work just fine.

Doesn't look like there's a good connection. You should re-solder the pot on and make sure the solder flows into the joint.

How do you know the capacitor has anything to do with the bell circuit problem? It's very possibly it has something to do with another circuit on the panel.FireAlarmNut wrote:Right, so I think I have it correct, because the capacitor hasn't blown up on me, so I think it's a bad connection!
