Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
Went back to my elementary school recently- it was renovated along with all of the other schools in the district starting in 2016, and the system was actually partially upgraded, to my surprise. A Simplex 4010 was installed there in 2010 and it was pretty standard- Truealerts, T-bars, all the usual ...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
Pretty much every system at my college is some sort of Gamewell-FCI setup. Nothing really too out of the ordinary. Dorms and Student Union Panel : G-FCI rebranded Notifier voice evac panel (probably part of the NFS-2 series) NA's : mix of white and red Spectralert Advance wall mount speaker strobes,...

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)
I think I may have talked about my church's system here before but I just found some interesting documentation on it while looking through some files in the church office. Anyway, here's a brief history: the church was originally built sometime in the early 1950s, and I have no idea what (if any) th...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
Not that I recall, one of the dorms I looked at had rebranded ZNS strobes in each room along with the sounders though.

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
I did a 'virtual' tour of the university that I'm going to in the fall and wasn't surprised to see that most of the updated dorms have Siemens Cerberus Pyrotronics voice evac systems with rebranded E-50's... along with sounder bases in the dorm rooms. Unfortunately, it looks like they're really push...

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)
Thanks! Now I'm starting to wonder if maybe one of those 424X panels was what my old high school had originally... It was completed in 1964 and has undergone several complete system replacements. It currently has a 4100 ES with a Truealert ES Voice Evac system... before that, it had a Siemens/ Cerbe...

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)
I was gonna post this with pictures, but since everything's closed right now I've been unable to get any... A local restaurant that was built in the '70s still has its original Simplex system with two 4050/4051's on 4050-80 light plates (w/o "fire" lettering). There are also three 4251-30 break glas...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
As part of a project with my school district, I've been going around to all of the schools in the district to create new tornado shelter plans (the old ones are not good- people near glass, exterior walls, etc. and had also not been updated since district-wide building upgrades). Anyway, one of the ...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
Also, sorry for doubleposting here, but like I said a while back, the Siemens MXL-IQ system at my High School was replaced with a 4100ES. I noticed that in the auditorium though that there are still Siemens pull stations next to the entrances, even though there are T-bars right next to them! There a...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
If I remember correctly, there was one 7002T in the hallway. The addition was only three classrooms, so it wasn't a big area.

Yes, but they were just strobes, not strobe plates.

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school
I've been meaning to post this for a while now, but my old elementary school had an interesting system before it was replaced in 2010 with a Simplex 4010/ Truealerts. The school was built in 1968 with what I'm assuming was an Autocall/ Federal Signal system. There were several 450D's scattered aroun...

Re: Fire, Lockdown, Severe Weather, Tornado, Shelter-in-Place, and other Emergency Drills for the 2019-2020 Academic Yea
Yesterday we had what I'm assuming was our first fire drill of the year. There was some confusion, as some teachers thought it was suppposed to happen on Monday, and the fire department also showed up in full force, but I think it was still a drill. It took them a while to reset the system for whate...
