Fire Block Foam or Caulk

Hello,

I have a pending Fire Alarm install in a commercial building. I will need to
use a Fire Block around wall penetrations.

Anyone have a recommendation for what is to be used or not used
in this kind of application??

Thanks for any input.

NICET IV acceptance

Hello, Before I ask the question locally I thought I would ask here first. When I have a Fire Alarm project I normally get a Mechanical Engineer to stamp/seal my design drawings. I have a new Fire Alarm project that will need full submittals for local permit. I don't have a NICET IV in order to stam...

Re: Weather Rated Fire Wire??

Lambda,

Thanks for the input. Well I have found this:

http://store.nexternal.com/westpenn/aq244-p353.aspx

The only odd thing is that even with the FPL rating it is stranded not solid wire.

Still investigating.

Re: Weather Rated Fire Wire??

But I was wondering, why not just put in a small conventional panel in the other building and just monitor the panel at the main building? You might be able to get past using a rated cable between the two and solve your issue. Or some of that existing communication cable might even have spares in i...

Re: Weather Rated Fire Wire??

"Can you put it on fiber?"

Not very likely with conventional Heat Detectors and Horn Strobes.

Weather Rated Fire Wire??

Hello all, Has anyone ever installed Fire Alarm Cable between two buildings that is wire-tied to a guy wire?? If yes, then what specification was applied to the wire to make it weather rated as well as fire rated?? I am looking at a project that already has an existing guy wire between buildings tha...

Re: Dual 24 Hour test

Looks like you have it set up so both lines test every 24 hours. From the manual: Report Style The DACT can be programmed to transmit reports to primary and/or secondary central station phone numbers as a backup. Press 2 while viewing Central Station Screen #1 to display the following screen: Press...

Re: Dual 24 Hour test

Chris, By Dual 24 hour test I mean I am getting two(2) 24 hour test signals being sent to the Central Station. Apparently each line (Line 1 & Line 2) is sending a test every 24 hours. Needless to say I am being billed by the C/S for twice or "Dual 24 Hour Test Signals". I presently have the selectio...

Re: Dual 24 Hour test

I find your questioning a bit odd coming from a Casual Participant that is 13 years old. I have been in the alarm business for over 27 years. This MS5UD is installed in a Church and as stated it doing a Dual 24 Hour Test to the Central Station. The panel display shows that the system is Norma...

Dual 24 Hour test

Hello all, Anyone have any insight on a new requirement that there be a Dual 24 Hour test on Fire Panels?? I have a Fire Lite MS5UD installed and it is doing just that. Can't find a way to stop it. I am hearing it is a UL issue but am looking for the details. Thanks for any comments or insight. Les

Re: Simplex module 556-915a search question

STR-SG, A couple of other questions that came up. This is a link to a couple of pictures of the component side of the board. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2erjiog3svv8ew1/AAAPLArDw2rlmVc6SkNbdFwCa?dl=0 In the one picture I have placed a couple of arrows. The one points to the back of the board were the...

Re: Simplex module 556-915a search question

Good Morning STR-SG, I now have more detail in my quest. I may have misled you a bit previously. I did not have the bad board 556-915A in front of me at the time and thought that the switch was just a two position with a (Norm) and (Alarm Test) functions. The one that I was looking at as a replaceme...
