Re: Fire Drill at Tunxis - 2019

I wouldn't say majority because of how big the new building is (and the fact that it has three floors), but there are a LOT of 6120's and -9838's.

Re: Name That Fire Alarm! (2.0)

Further research shows the horn to be a DB1 from Wheelock. The strobe might be of the XB12 series.

You can even make out what looks to be the old Wheelock logo in the lower right-hand corner.

Re: Name That Fire Alarm! (2.0)

I'm guessing it's one of those hazardous area Wheelock signals, then.

Was that in the US? And does anyone actually know the answer? Because that actually looks pretty cool (and really loud).

Re: What is your favorite electronic horn sound?

Top 5 1. Edwards 892 - I prefer the fuller tone of the 2B to the sharper 1B, but both sound really cool in harmony. See what I mean? https://youtu.be/syZ84JkEWok 2. Gentex SHG - Sounds almost like a low-pitched mechanical horn. 3. Simplex TrueAlert - The 2-wire SmartSync ones especially. The 4-wire...

Re: What is the oldest system you have seen in operation?

I've seen a couple oldies. - Plainville Municipal Center (town hall) has a pre-4207 Simplex system, with 4251-20 pulls and 4040 horns on single double projectors. - The former Holy Cross School in New Britain had Simplex 4040's or 4050's. When I was a kid, I peeked inside during their annual carniva...

Re: Fire Drill at Tunxis - 2019

Far from it. The 100 Building is all AV-34's (save for a lone 4903-9252 mounted sideways in the cafeteria and V-33's on the ceiling), and the 200 Building has mostly 2903's, with more AV-34's in Founder's Hall and the Student Lounge. If I'm able to be there for the next fire drill, maybe I'll film o...

Correct! In hindsight, I'm not surprised only one person got it, as it's quite an obscure factoid.

It's 4/6. Get it?
This idea just popped into my head, so I went with it.
