Re: What devices have YOU gotten for free?

So far, from my job, I've obtained a System Sensor 2400TH (very yellow), and two ESL Interlogix TX-6010-01-1's. The ESLs were taken from a GE Simon being replaced by a 2GIG. Took them down and put up SMKT3's in their spot.

Re: Smoke alarms went off right after lightning struck?

I think this has something to do with charges in the air and the way it affects ionization detectors. I do remember seeing a video on YouTube a long time ago where lightning struck close by and the smoke alarms in the house sounded for a short time.

Re: Most Absurd Description of a Fire Alarm Sound

You'd think that slapping on a picture of a NA into a word document and saying "Sounds like a series of three 1/2 second beeps, constantly repeating" would be enough. Give it 20 years and everyone should generally know (at least in the US) from school days. But by then, I'll be darned if every new c...

Re: Outdoor signals

The inside of the device is usually sealed with rubber gaskets and/or liquid sealant around any holes. The horn grille is sealed, the strobe body is sealed, and the circuitry on the back is usually epoxied in or sealed. There are IP ratings for water resistance and dust resistance.

Re: System Sensor and other Manufacture sync protocol's

Odd... I've found that SpectrAlert classic and SpectrAlert Advance very often start out one beat off of the other, but after ~30 seconds to a minute they will sync up by having one (I think the classic) do an extra pulse/skip a pulse. I have a P2WL, two P2W, a P1224MC and a P1224MCW on one sync modu...

Re: DMP XR500 Outputs Stuck Following CMOS Battery Failure

I have not the slightest clue about DMP, but I may have some helpful general advice. Have you tried a power-cycle? What about performing actions that would trigger the outputs to activate and disarming/resetting those actions? As a person with some experience in computer programming, the configurati...

Re: Two smoke detectors located next to each other in a house.

The one on the top looks like an old (likely ionization) smoke alarm. The one on the bottom looks like a FireX smoke alarm, but you can't tell if it's ionization or photoelectric without looking at the back of that one. Either way, both of them are past their life expectancy.

Re: (posting for a friend) GE Simon XT Weird Setup, Wired to ADEMCO Board

If the system is currently monitored by A*T, I'd suggest making a service call. I'm having trouble understanding what's going on in any of the pictures, and I'm not exactly sure what your question is.

Re: Water is bad, mmmmkay....

Water is great! Turned a 120v smoke alarm into a flow switch in my house when the air handler in the attic was dripping water onto the ceiling of a bedroom, in just the right spot. There is now a yellow water stain circle about 3 inches outward from the round nail-on box the smoke alarm is on. I had...

Re: Best Fire Alarm Deals

I have a GE Concord 4 commercial/residential Fire and Burglary panel that I mainly use as a fire panel. In pursuit of expanding my system, I've encountered a fair share of deals on eBay. Although I didn't buy everything I'm about to mention, I do know a good deal when I see one. First off, the bigge...

Re: Cutting live fire alarm wire

To clarify, when a NAC is not active, many different things could be going on with the voltage on the NAC. Typically, a NAC is supervised in standby. It will be in reverse-polarity and the voltage varies by manufacturer. My Potter PSN-64 NAC Extender outputs 27.7v and supervises with about 12v. In a...

GE Concord 4 - Trouble relay sensor group

I have trouble relays for a NAC extender that I want to monitor with my Concord 4. What sensor group can I use? I want trouble beeps to sound. What I want to do is to learn the zone as N/O (resistor in parallel, normally sees resistor, alarm on full-close, tamper on full-open), but wire it as N/C Wi...

GE Concord 4 - Random beeps

I have a GE Concord 4. I only use partition 1, no other partitions are programmed. Every once in a blue moon, it decides to beep. When it does, it's always on the hour. The latest incident was at midnight on a Sunday (1/28/18) with a random standard beep. First, let's eliminate the first things that...

GE Concord 4 System Test 44 - System Sensor i3 2WTA-B & RRS-MOD

I thought it would be interesting to post a video of sounder-smokes on here. Not too many systems on YouTube with them. 5Pn92lA9lgM This is a partial system test of my GE Concord 4 system. In this video, I demonstrate my brand new System Sensor RRS-MOD (polarity-reversal and synchronization relay mo...
