Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

Did you ever post this system out in the "What alarm do you have at work/school" for this building and the other buildings on the campus because it does seem very interesting. I posted a preliminary version in "Fire Alarms in Buildings 2.0" eons ago, but I'll go ahead and restate it here in its com...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

Replacement alert! So, we had our usual once-a-semester fire drill for the music building on Friday, September 20 at 11:15 AM. Campus Security conducts all fire drills for the college. The system is a late 1990s-early 2000s Simplex 4005 (replacing a 4207--cabinet is still intact for use as a wiring ...

Does it sound like a Wheelock EH-DL1-WS-24?
The horn selection does. Here's a YouTube video (video credit to Craig Baker) of the AESM-E version (Wheelock AES-EL1-WM-24).

Re: Uncommon alarm acquired!

It does sound like it is interesting. I would be hoping that you could make a video of it and put it on YouTube but I'm not sure if you do stuff like that. I"m not really into making videos for YouTube or any other platform. I'm currently halfway through a Bachelor's Degree with three minors attach...

Re: Uncommon alarm acquired!

I hope that you can post pictures of it sometime! It seems like it is very neat! I will when I can. I head back to college on Thursday so I'm busy preparing, and we're currently in the middle of a kitchen renovation. Time is definitely limited. The alarm looks like (and is definitely as LOUD as) an...

Re: Uncommon alarm acquired!

From many pictures, (Cerberus) Pyrotronics rebrands the most obscure Wheelock signals. I didn't even know the Wheelock HSPW existed until i saw a Siemens rebrand of it (google images, unfortunately) Yes they do, I have yet to see what an SS70-15/75s speak strobe looks like. I'm pretty sure the SS70...

Uncommon alarm acquired!

Hi All! I just received what I believe to be a fairly uncommon alarm (at least by nomenclature). The device is a Cerberus Pyrotronics AES-24SH horn/strobe, which is the C-P private-label version of the Wheelock AES-DL1-WS-24. I didn't know Cerberus Pyrotronics ever used this line of Wheelock signals...

Re: Siemens Pyrotronics smb-2 ground fault

Based on what I can find documentation-wise, the SMB-2 identifier tells me that the panel is a Siemens-Cerberus Pyrotronics MXL-IQ. This panel is NLA but the parts may still be available. If not, contact your nearest Siemens dealer/distributor. The MXL-IQ can be migrated to a current FireFinder XLS ...

Re: why do we have to do fire drills once a month

NC requires (or at least used to require) two fire drills within the first full week of school for K-5 elementary schools. The first of the two would be usually the first or second school day and would be announced and prepared for well in advance. The second drill would usually be on Friday and wou...

Re: Popular Fire Alarm Brands in Your Area

My area has a decent mixture, but it's not hard to discern the prevalence once you start looking. Listed below from most to least prevalent: Siemens//Cerberus Pyrotronics//Pyrotronics//Pyr-A-Larm Fairly common already and growing in popularity as of late. Pyrotronics and Simplex both developed a gre...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

I have been singing professionally with a church choir in my area for just over a month now, and we had a fire alarm test last week during and after rehearsal, so here's the system. The church is one large building made up of four distinct structures, all of which were recently connected to form th...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

So its not really much of a change then as it now has the same alarms as the main sanctuary and vestibule now? That's the only real change I have seen. I haven't been into the other parts of the campus so I don't know if the Fire-Lite and/or System Sensor devices in the other wing are still there. ...

Re: Notifier and EST vs. Silent Knight for three 9-story tower complex

Looking to replace a Siemens conventional system with a new addressable system (from Notifier, Silent Knight, or others) in a complex of three 9-story apartment towers which stand over an underground parking garage. Each tower would have its own panel which we'd connect to the main central tower (t...
