Getting Asterisk / alarmreceiver to read DTMF digits properly.

I know this may not be directly related to fire alarms, but I know that some people here have tried and been able to do this. I am trying to use Asterisk and its alarmreceiver module to connect with my 5820XL. The 5820XL is connected to a Grandstream HT802. Alarmreceiver is working for the most part...

Re: New System Sensor Addressable Wireless A/V Devices

I wonder how well they work for buildings with 16 inches thick concrete wall I guess the range might be similar to WiFi, but I wonder how many hops the signal can make before degrading. Each device was probably made with accurate transmission and battery life in mind, so I can't imagine the range w...

Re: New System Sensor Addressable Wireless A/V Devices

I was expecting these to require external power but 754 minutes for a horn strobe is insane. It shows how far technology has come.

Cisco phone compatibility

I am looking to connect a CP-7942G or similar phone to an Asterisk server I will be setting up, but upon doing some research I found many places saying that some of these phones (specifically the ones with G in the number) supposedly require Cisco manager in some situations. When do these require th...

Re: Silent Knight New Panels

The 6000 series NEEDS HFSS to do any kind of mapping, and the networking is ONLY for reporting, just to let you use one panel for reporting. It is not as exciting as it sounds at first, but at least the 6820 still goes in the same cabinet as the 5808, 5208, and the IFP 100.

Re: Honeywell Vista 15p Download Problems

Did you try to program the panel from the keypad? If you are using a serial port, I would recommend checking the baud rate. That is what prevented me from programming my panels until I figured it out.

Re: What are some things that the General Public misconceives about Fire Alarms that drive you crazy?

"oh my god the pull station smell smoke so the fire sprinnkles spray water". In the first spongebob movie the all of the fire sprinklers in shell city activated because smoke touched one of them. People overestimate the sensitivity and false alarm proneness of fire alarm systems. Spongebob and Patri...

Re: Siemens rebranding EST equipment

This may have happened before Siemens purchased Cerberus Pyrotronics. Honeywell rebranded the EST 3 for a time, and it seems to be in the right timeframe.

This is what you might be looking for. It is rebranded by A*T but it's the same exact thing. http://firealarmresources.com/wp-conten ... /50175.pdf

Re: Fike SHP transformer overheating

You may want to mount some form of heatsink on the transformer and also make sure that it is not being overloaded and that there are no shorts anywhere on your system.

Re: The people who make fun of us

I already told a mod about it and who they are, and they said they will take care of it. This person would criticize people for stupid things like playing Roblox, being “obsessed”, and watching Thomas and friends. Then he would quote Thomas and friends and tell me “shut up I’m playing Roblox“.

Re: What fire alarm is this?

This seems to be a copy of the FireLite BG-8. I also believe that other companies have rebranded this station, but for who manufactured it, I would recommend looking up the letters on the key.

Re: The people who make fun of us

I only know one person that has made fun of me and others for our hobbies. I wish I could say names, but what I can tell you is that, ironically, he is a member of this website. He has just harassed many people I know to no end, and is just the worst person I have ever met. If a mod is reading this,...

Re: My second house fire in 3 months.

It may be worth looking into having these fixtures rewired or replaced with replicas. All of these fixtures were rewired when the house was heavily renovated in 1999. This renovation also included replacing most if not all of the wiring in the entire house. I assure you, measures like these were al...

Re: My second house fire in 3 months.

After this post we have bought several 5 pound ABC extinguishers and we are in the process of installing LED bulbs in the fixtures involved in these events, along with installing more smoke detectors on our security system. If allowed by your AHJ, maybe install a pull station that would act as a fi...
