On the Norwegian Escape, I've seen some Roshni sounders in common areas, though I'm unsure if those are actually connected to the call points (there's a video somewhere on YouTube of them going off when the emergency doors are shutting).
Are these sounders located near doors?

you get comments from the GP like "I thought that was someone's phone was vibrating".
How could someone reasonably think that this, for instance, is someone’s phone vibrating?

Re: Lack of a message on voice systems?

I'm not sure about the code in MA, but as far as I know the national code requires new voice evac systems in schools. Perhaps it wasn't needed when it was installed at the time but they saw the future need should the school expand? No, these are varying sizes of schools. 1999: A middle school, whic...

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)

That annunciator is not compatible with the 4010 or 4010ES. It only works with 4100-series panels.

Lack of a message on voice systems?

Is there any specific reason as to why many voice systems (particularly in Massachusetts) don't have a message?

Copley Place Mall & Towers - Boston, MA Panel: Simplex 4100U (there's an annunciator at the Neiman Marcus entrance. I couldn't get a look because Neiman Marcus remains closed.) Pull stations: 4099-9003's https://scontent-bos3-1.cdninstagram.com/v/t51.2885-15/e35/s320x320/109953852_734488003967093_1...

Re: New Panel!

That's actually a 4100U - the direct successor to the 4100. Keep in mind that older addressable devices (like 2099-97XX pull stations, and the "wiffle-ball" detectors) cannot be used on a 4100U without a special loop card. The pull station that's sitting sideways on top is a 4099-9001, and is compat...

Re: COVID-19 and fire drills

In my opinion, not at all. There are many other situations for which prolonged close contact is much more likely. In addition, outdoor activities have a lower risk for COVID exposure. Lockdown drills, on the other hand... I could theoretically see those being temporarily suspended - especially due t...

Re: Why are Canada's regulations like this?

I just did a newer 12 story apartment building today ... The signals were alternating, as they would install a Horn/Strobe, then a Horn, then another H/S and then a Horn at the end of the hall (System Sensor HRAs). Units have a H/S in the common area, and a Horn in each bedroom. I thought anything ...

I finally found the full message at the BoardWalk!

You can also hear the mini-horns in the rooms. Those things are VERY annoying!

Re: Hotel room smoke detectors.

There are also many hotels where the sounder bases are local only and the rooms also have a signal in them.
This is usually seen on voice systems.

The new Cerberus PRO voice systems (both 252/504 point and Modular) use the FireFinder XLSV tones and messages.
The wording is the same but the voice is different.
