Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)

Navy Pier had a ginormous system, couldn’t tell what it was, but from other devices seen it was most likely Gamewell-FCI. Main alarms at the main mall-area are System Sensor L-Series and SpectrAlert Advance speaker/strobes (first time seeing L-Series speaker/strobes clearly in person) Two L-Series s...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

There’s been a SpectrAlert Advance weatherproof horn/strobe mounted outside the middle enterance. As far as I know there are no others in or out of the school. My assumption is that it’s a sprinkler alarm for when sprinklers ever get activated. Or it’s outdoor notification, but they could’ve just us...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

This version of the TrueAlert used to install on the ceiling is the reason why I don't particularly like ceiling mount alarms. The only thing that I think that looks good on the ceiling are smoke and heat detectors. Circular alarms with a strobe in the middle look fine though. It’s definitely more ...

The ceiling mount version I also agree doesn't look really nice. It's basically an intercom speaker with a strobe fused to it.
And to think thats also what the horn/strobes look like...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

I really do not like that design. I wish they just used the smaller strobe like on the wall-mount devices.

Few of these installed last night in my school replacing TrueAlarms; name that smoke detector! (It is NOT an OP121 head)

If you can't, don't worry about it. It just looked like it was upside-down when mounted like that.
Its one of the new TrueAlertES signals; they look like that.

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

Forgot to mention but the new unfinished addition (not open, making observations from looking out the school windows) for my school has the same siemens ceiling mounted mns speaker/strobes and speakers, along with smoke detectors extremely visable due to the red covers. Dunno about pull stations, th...

I was expecting these to require external power but 754 minutes for a horn strobe is insane. It shows how far technology has come.
you mean how long the horn/strobe goes off any time adds up to 754 minutes before it goes bad? Oh my god thats impressive.

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)

Alright I just went through a car wash today and here are these two alarms that kinda surprised me. Stuff like this might be kinda common but I didn’t pay much attention before. At the start of the wash, there is a System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance chime/strobe which was white, had an amber strobe, ...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

Thats actually the thing. Originally they used beige cover plates (of different sizes depending on the hole in the wall left over) because the walls were beige and the workers wanted them to blend in. And then on Wednesday/Thursday they just started using white covers for some reason. Theres still a...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

Not gonna help when it ends up getting all dusty and dirty but I guess it doesn't matter as long as the devices are kept working. I mean they’re removing all the simplex devices. The siemens devices are kept put. Removal is actually really clean, just a bunch of different covers are being used beca...

Re: What alarm do you have at work/school

In the east building; Alarms, pull stations, and smoke detectors are getting removed and covered everywhere in hallways daily. Nothing much happening in any classrooms/ bathrooms/ pool/ gym etc... those are probably last. Its going from first floor to third floor, and all simplex material on the fir...

Re: What tones would you prefer for voice evac?

Honestly I prefer code-3 tone with a pitch of about 900-1000hz and the normal “there has been a report of fire in the building” type message. Just anything that doesnt make the alarms sound like some sort of toy like the tones on the multitone truealertES.
