Re: How to integrate fire alarm to building control system?

Depending on the panel it may have built in BACnet control. I'd suggest contacting your service provider as this is a complex project.

Does the FCPS-24 put out FWR or filtered DC?

Just curious, do the Fire Lite power extenders put out FWR or filtered?

lots dont even respond to those, smoke only.
What do you mean they don't respond? Like they have a reed switch and don't respond or just don't have a reed switch?

I meant on the smoke/heat detector.
might depend on the system but most commercial detectors i've seen don't have test switches like household smokes do.
Magtest?

I'm not a DMP guy but it sounds like even though you were able to retrieve the program, it may have been corrupted.

Re: School Shooting

True or false: Many of the people running the place did everything in their power to make things worse for us. False; they are too lazy to fix anything. I wonder if any schools have considered activating the fire alarm during some of their lockdown drills while teaching the students to ignore it du...

Re: School Shooting

Then that is a doubly huge reason why there should only be smoke and heat detectors within the school so there are no false alarms by pulling and killers getting ready to gun people down can't pull it to make their victims come out into the open. You can set off a smoke/heat detector if you are mal...

Re: Are buildings with fire alarm systems not required to have pull stations if they are fully sprinklered?

Really no need for smokes throughout or pull stations at all, which is why they've been eliminated. Full smoke coverage hasn't been required in sprinkled buildings since the 90s. But heat detectors aren't life safety devices right? They'll only trip if a fire gets hot enough and high enough to reac...

Re: Fire Alarm Panel Surge

When you start throwing 120V around circuits that are only rated for a max of 3.3-12 volts ver bad things happen very quickly. Like STR-SG said, there is no telling what broke. It could just be the PSU, or the entire thing could be dead. You won't know until you start fixing things and see what work...

Re: After what happened yesterday, my questions remain about traditional FA systems and our response to them.

I would hope that they would be quick since all of this happens in less than seconds. He's right. IMO there should be some sort of automatic shot detection with automatic fire alarm disconnects (maybe just a relay on the NAC?) so that the alarm does not go off if there is an active shooter incident...

That is correct. He confirmed on his youtube a little while ago that he is not in trouble.

Re: BluePoint police alarms

a modern fire alarm can do everything the bluepoint thing can, but much cheaper since the system is already in place. I definitely agree. I think it's a tad unnecessary to run all new wiring. For example, if it were a Notifier system, you could toss a minimod in an STI push station next to a few fi...
