Poll: Which part of fire drills do you dislike more?
I'm curious to see what everyone thinks about this. My interest in fire alarms actually stems directly from the fear of fire drills I had when I was younger. Though now I really enjoy fire drills at school as I get a chance to hear the alarms and get a break from class, I still hate the feeling of d...

Re: Simplex Company says no
The newer 4010ES and any other ES series panel from Simplex (which also includes the 4007ES and the 4100ES) have to be programmed with proprietary software that only Simplex technicians have access to. For the few people on YouTube that do have these panels, they almost always personally know someon...

Re: 4100ES SIMPLEX - No battery needed $$$ saving
I was checking the code, and in fact I can supply the main thru the my Central UPS. Its allowed. So, in theory if I already have backup power I shall not need extra power backup (batteries). I can't say for certain whether or not hooking the panel up to a UPS is against code, in your jurisdiction i...

Re: 4100ES SIMPLEX - No battery needed $$$ saving
Unless you're a licensed fire alarm technician, I'd strongly urge you to not do this especially being that this hotel (I assume) is occupied by the public. You can try calling a fire alarm technician to see if they can do something of this sort, but I'm fairly certain that this modification would be...

Trying to Find 1990s Simplex Data Sheets for the 4903 Series
I'm wanting to find the data sheets for the Simplex 4903 series FreeRun horn strobes from the 1990s, particularly alarms like the 4903-9217 and the 4903-9238. I spent awhile looking on Simplex's website, and the closest things I got were the data sheet for the 4901-9822 , which appears to be a horn-...

Re: Vista 20p - Bell Circuit Coding for Fire Zone Activation
Your Advance, if a 2-wire model, should have an option to select between continuous and temporal. If 4-wire, the horn is coded by the power source. Yeah I have it set on continuous, but there's still that half second delay from when power is applied to when it starts sounding. How many devices are ...

Re: Vista 20p - Bell Circuit Coding for Fire Zone Activation
What strobe setting do you have them on, and how do you have them wired up? The Exceder should sound instantly when power is applied and it's set to continuous. Yeah I did mention that the Exceder sounds immediately when set on continuous, the Advance does not. I have the strobe on 15cd, and I did ...

Re: Vista 20p - Bell Circuit Coding for Fire Zone Activation
Question: what model are your self-coding alarms? If they have the option to disable the self-code then it would be in your interest to disable it. Gentex Commander 3, SpectrAlert Advance, Wheelock Exceder/AS, EST Integrity/Genesis As far as I can tell, none of those have the option to disable self...

Thank you, I'll look into it!The 4251-13 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 10:32 am I found the models for the relays and they are 4204 and 4229. Also, make sure the bell supervision jumper is cut as well, as fire bell circuits need to be supervised. Nonetheless, great question!
