Re: Is it me or do some Siemens U-MMTs sound high pitched?

This is a possibility, but don't quote this for all situations of this occurrence... Cerberus Pyrotronics/Siemens offered three horns and horn/strobes in the U-Series body styles: U-MMT, U-MHST, and U-MHU. U-MMT ----We all know this alarm very well. 8 tones, offered first as fixed candela (U-MMT-SXX...

Re: are school cafeteria dining areas required to have 3 nas?

Today, strobe coverage dictates all. The size and physical floor plan determine the amount of strobes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall reading that there must be one strobe per every 20' x 20' area. My high school has TEN SpectrAlert Advances, 5 P2R's on High Volume Temporal, and 5 SR remote s...

Re: Cerberus Pyrotronics IXL

Okay...I think this may be helpful to anyone who may want more info or are in information overload concerning the IXL Series. This is basically a SparkNotes version of the IXL Datasheet from FireAlarmResources.com Cerberus Pyrotronics IXL ----Device Type Cheat Sheet IXL : Main PCB, Keypad, and Enclo...

Re: Cerberus Pyrotronics IXL

The way the SLC loop works on the IXL/INS-2 and an even earlier Cerberus addressable panel whose model I can't think of is rather stupid compared to modern SLC loops. They were really well behind other panels, including the MXL, when these panels were made (Early to mid 90s) because other brands li...

Must ask...

There is currently a Cerberus Pyrotronics PXL on eBay.

Does anyone have experience with these?

Re: Fire Drills, Severe Weather Drills, Lockdowns for the 2016-2017 School year

Looks like my school is trying to get drills out of the way as soon as possible judging by the spacing of the first two drills. State law in my state says you must do 5 drills a year and 3 have to be before December. Texas requires the first two must be performed within the first two weeks of schoo...

Re: Cerberus Pyrotronics IXL

Chris, The Cerberus PRO on eBay is the basic 50-point model. It's a little expensive (asking price is $399), but still reasonable given the prices of MXL's and some of the Simplex panels. Is there backwards compatibility with Siemens/Cerberus Pyrotronics addressable devices built into the Cerberus P...

Re: Cerberus Pyrotronics IXL

Chris, The Cerberus PRO and Desigo lines look to be nice systems. Definitely a step in the right direction for Siemens, IMO. Must ask....do they still have the VERY protected external programming procedure? Or, being small-to-midsize systems, are they easily programmed from the User Interface? There...

Re: Cerberus Pyrotronics IXL

UPDATE As for the MS-5210UD+Altronix NAC Booster setup, there is evidence floating around that the entire system is up for replacement. There were some brochures/sell sheets for some new panels laying on the secretary's desk in the main office on Monday. One was for the Siemens Cerberus Desigo. Anot...

Re: Fire-Lite MS-9600

Nick, I must ask one further question concerning Cerberus Pyrotronics equipment.... Are the newer electronic Faraday manufactured signals reliable? I only have personal experience with MC-S17-F horn/strobes ("F-Series"). I've seen videos of the U-MMT, U-HN/HNH, U-MHU, and U-MHST signals ("U-Series"...

Re: Your Favorite Fire Alarms

Generally devices that are versatile, durable, and inexpensive. For instance, the Sigcom and RSG metal pulls you see everywhere, the Notifier BNG-1R, and the Gentex Commander 3. From what I've heard, the Pyrotronics System 3 is damn near bulletproof but Siemens no longer makes them. Since when is t...

Re: Fire-Lite MS-9600

Thanks kcin556 (or Nick, if that's okay)!!! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the post-Siemens-takeover stuff (save the omnipresent System3 and MXL). I personally want to see the trademark Cerberus graphic next to the Cerberus Pyrotronics wording. However, it seems as though the SXL-EX hasn't really...
