Re: Found out something

That could be very possible, that they just bought parts from another manufacturer, like they did in the past... Just like the 4030, IIRC, it was never manufactured by Faraday, Simplex (and possibly IBM since Simplex bought out IBM's fire alarm division) but rather made by the [now defunct] Benjami...

Yep, flush mounted behind the usual red grilles. The grilles are still intact, covering the old deep-flush backboxes, but all of the current signals are ceiling mount 4906-9128 TrueAlerts.

Re: Fire Drills, Severe Weather Drills, Lockdowns, Evacuation Drills for the 2017-2018 School Year

All three dorms at my college have horns. There's not a single voice system on campus, actually. Two dorms have a mixture of Vibratone 350s, Wheelock 31T-115s, and Edwards 874-N5 120VAC AdaptaHorns (both run by newer Simplex panels), but the newest dorm on campus (1968) just replaced their Simplex ...

Re: Fire Drills, Severe Weather Drills, Lockdowns, Evacuation Drills for the 2017-2018 School Year

Have there ever been dorms that people know of that have HORNS in them instead of speakers? It sounds a bit strange but I am curious. Sure, it's not even that uncommon. Most newer dorms that I know of have speakers, and the larger existing ones have generally seen their systems upgraded to voice-ev...

Re: Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)

I do have to say I think the ideas of 4051s in code-3 would be a bit weird and wouldn't sound too good. Then again, I only heard them in continuous and that was 12 years ago. My college had them but I think there were in march time. I personally think 4051s 'in the field' sounding in Temporal 3 sou...

Re: Fire alarms in my elementary school

Now the question I have is with the 4-5 school, the original system was added before 1994 and later than 1986. I believe it was probably a Gamewell zans-400, but what do you think? It was some sort of Gamewell panel from the 80s. Also I remember in 5th grade, the principal asked my teacher to pull ...

Re: National Time and Signal

Let me ask... Are the panels made in-house by National Time and Signal? Or are they custom manufactured by another company for NTS? They definitely look like very well-designed panels... Their panels are indeed made in-house. I suspected that they were, as they definitely resemble their master time...

Re: Will Siemens introduce a new line of notification appliances?

I think even Notifier systems which have historically used Wheelock NA's are switching to SS NA's. I also think I've only seen one or two Siemens systems in the wild, and a lot more Fire lite and Simplex. BTW, the other option is like if they will no longer rebrand nor manufacture NA's or rebrand s...

Yes, they were rebranded by National Time in that manner. The SigCom t-bars also were branded as National Time.

National Time and Signal

Hi all, I recently stopped in a newly-built establishment (name/location undisclosed) in my area for a quick errand. It was my first time going into this particular building, and I was expecting your typical Honeywell-subsidiary system (BG-12s, SpectrAlerts, ya know). Anyway, I was in for quite a su...

Re: Classic, Advance, or L-Series?

I voted L-Series. I like the fact that they returned to the design intuitive and 3.1KHz horn option of the SpectrAlert Classic, but retained the basic idea of the "jackhammer" broadband horn tone from the Advance. It is a slight bit different from the Advance, however, as the horns in the L-Series h...

I still don't know what Simplex was smoking when they came up with their new TrueAlert ES LED models.
