So today I went to Radio Crack (Shack) and bought a San Disk micro SDHC card for a tablet. It came with an adapter to make it a regular SDHC card. I plugged it into my computer to name it and all that and found that 1.24 GB was used. I open the drive’s file system and find an iPhone backup file. Upon further investigation, some customer left his iPhone files on there which included wedding photos, personal photos, and even a photo of his license plate.
Now here’s where I’m confused. The SDHC card was BRAND NEW in box but the little package had a piece of tape on it like it had ripped yet all the packaging was in tact as though it was factory fresh. How would he have been able to remove the card and place it back when the packaging was fine? You would have to send it to San Disk for that which for $10, just get a different card.
What I’m trying to get at is, make sure that before you return a file storage device, format it. I have since wasted my time formatting it for someone else. Plus, who knows if some creepy stalker/criminal bought the card and found that license plate photo? He’s lucky it was just me who purchased it.
People LOVE to buy stuff, use it, and then return it. Most stores know this, but it’s hard to do much about. This is why most electronics have return limits or re-stock charges.
