So, I am building said panel based on NewAgeServer(Alarm)’s schematic, and wanted to know if there is a way to make the wires less messy? Being one with ADHD, it is hard to remember which wire is which.
I’ve never used these myself, but it may be helpful to pick up a package of colored circular stickers, like the ones people use for prices at garage sales. That way you can fold one onto itself over the end of each wire to mark different colors. You could also write notes or numbers to correspond with terminals. If you go with numbers, a drawing or document listing the start and destination of each wire run within the panel would be helpful. If you are looking for more professionalism, small white tags with numbers printed onto them would serve the same purpose as the stickers.
For keeping the wires in order, zip ties and cable tie mounts are a must. Use them to secure bundles of wires going to the same location (for example, to/from a relay) within the panel together, then use a mount to hold them against a ‘wall’ of the panel can.
I have finished it, with the exception of mounting the buttons. I may make a video using a different, non-Alertek name.
