I was leaving my grandmother’s house to return to my school, since sixth period started in fifteen minutes. As I was re-locking the fence gate, I swore I could hear a very faint ringing bell. I went still, and I could hear 10-inch bells in code 3 coming from the general direction of my school, along with screaming students. I power-walked to the school; I was curious as to why they would have a fire drill during lunch hour. As I turned the last corner, I could see the student body filing into the Lutheran church across the street from my school.
I ran over to the church (getting a booter in the process), and entered. The school secretary ordered us to head to the basement and sit quietly with our class. My art teacher directed me to my homeroom. After about 15 minutes, students began filing out of the church and back towards the school. The events were over by about 1:15 PM, five minutes into sixth period.
While I was in the church, I heard rumors circulating that an eighth grade student in the portable next to mine had pulled the alarm. Another student I talked to said the same boy, who had a bad reputation with the administrators, had thrown a basketball at the pull station. Someone else said it was an eraser. When I was walking back to class, the principal was standing outside of the classroom in question with the district head of maintenance. Both of them looked royally P.O.'ed. As I re-entered my classroom, I heard the principal yelling to the students from the other class something along the lines of:
“Nobody leaves their seats until I know who pulled that alarm!”
Me and a group of friends briefly talked to the “perp” after school, who seemed angry and irritated. He said that he had stole a girl’s binder and tried throwing it in the garbage can, but it missed and hit the pull station instead. He wasn’t suspended, but he says he has to stay after school every day until the principal says otherwise.
Yep, I love my school!
