Hello i am daniel and i am wondering if you can recommend any alarms that will not annoy my sister and dogs and or is it legal in Texas to have a fire alarm system int hey house also will the fire department be called by the neibors
Wheelock CH-70 chimes are very quiet while still being a “real” fire alarm. I would highly recommend one of those if you are looking to not bother anyone. As for your neighbors, it just depends on how close you live to them and their general attitude. I highly doubt they would call the fire department for some random noise, more likely they would simply file a complain if it got too excessive. If you are sounding the devices inside, it is very hard to hear outside of well insulated walls.
Codes and requirements for installing fire alarm systems are a tricky thing. It is impossible just to guess how the code is written or used: you have to know exactly how your jurisdiction chooses to interpret the NFPA codes. However, a broader assumption that can be applied here is that any electrical system should only be installed by licenced electricians. That means that installing a complete fire alarm system in your house would be a no-no. It is better to construct a system on a board, so it can be easily removed and is not a permanent fixture in the building.
is the wheelock a horn strobe or a speaker strobe cause i don’t want a speaker strobe cause i don’t have panels yet i would like to build one but i dont know any plans if i do they are ins schematics and i cant read schematics i would need written instructions or pictures in great detail. Are their any fire alarm retail shops that sell them like a surplus store. like a chain like microcenter
The CH-70 is a chime strobe. It is technically a speaker with a built-in tone generator, so it only requires 24 Volts to operate and nothing else special like a panel or message and tone generators. Essentially, it operates like a horn/strobe, but is just quiet and makes a soft “dinging” noise.
