Rant session

So I’m gonna rant about something that no one may care about but I’m do it anyways. I have had for the past 17 years a Mr.Christmas Lights and Sounds of Christmas and it has been an icon of our house during Christmas time. For context, a Mr.Christmas Lights and Sounds is a music box you can hook up to your Christmas lights and they flash with music. Anyways we noticed the old music box was getting a bit tired. so in 2023, we got a new one. and as soon as I plugged it in, I hated it. they got rid of some of the best songs and replaced them with other ones, the instrument sounds were completely different, AND the audio quality was not that good. it was also made cheaper than the older one. the speaker was smaller and the plastic casing also felt cheaper. so I’ve decided to buy new parts for the old one to keep it alive and as of 2025, it’s still kickin’ with the old parts and probably will for a while. Also the old one is far superior because it has Sleigh Ride and the new one doesn’t. it seems everything today is just cheap and it gets on my nerves. anyone else agree?

Holy Yap Session lol

You got that right pal: what ever happened to making excellent-quality products that last practically forever? (especially if taken good care of) Oh I know: corporate greed & planned obsolescence were allowed to run rampant unchecked until we have the business model used by most if not all major corporations today, that’s what!

Cars are really suffering from this. My mom has a 2022 vw Tiguan. It had cracked 2 plastic oil pans. Turns out the Pcv valve was bad. So we replaced that and put an aluminum oil pan on. The car was only 2 YEARS OLD. Also plastic oil pans is just stupid.

Yeah: meanwhile if you were to replace it with a 2007 Tiguan you’d likely find that it’d be very reliable indeed (or at least I would both hope & expect it would be).

Or you compare it to my rust bucket of a 1971 vw super beetle which starts every time
