Should schools, hotels, stores, restaurants and malls have carbon monoxide detectors?

Depends on the situation. It would be a good idea around stuff capable of producing CO, but everywhere in a building adds extra cost to an installation.

Absolutely not! Silent killers in schools are not a danger. There was a study done by Alfalfa Sprout showing that 99.99% of the time carbon monoxide does not kill students and teachers. In fact! if a school was to install a carbon monoxide detector… its shown that there is a 100% more likely chance that global warming will increase 50%!!!

HONESTLY?

I found your question to be extremely ridiculous so I posted a ridiculous answer. Of course any public facility that has equipment that can produce CO should have a hardwired and monitored detector. Schools and other large occupancy spaces are required in many instances although I know explaining the code is pointless here. Life safety outweighs cost any day!
