The Anti-Fire Alarm Trashing Police (TAFATP)

I never got the front part. I only got the back.

@SpockKirk-1701 officially secured STVM’s Simplex 4247–2 system since they just completed an upgrade over the recent holiday break to “Honeywell slop” with LED L series units.

That’s certainly unfortunate. The new system will no doubt provide better protection than the old system, but I doubt it will be for much longer than a decade. There are so many other options they could have gone with that would have been much better in the long run. They are only thinking about up-front costs, and not about the costs from the issues they will have in the future.

I’m glad you got a rare system like that! In my opinion, systems like that belong in a collectors hands, and not in a building anymore, or worse… in the trash. These are pieces of history that should be preserved, but they are outdated and do not provide adequate protection.

I was made aware of the upgrade via an official Instagram photo. This came as a shocker, since I wasn’t expecting a replacement anytime soon, especially considering the current economy. I thought they would do a total system upgrade once the entire building was remodeled.

It seems like they always come as shockers. There are some systems around me that I was surprised when the were replaced, as I didn’t feel that it was necessary, and there are some others that are still going where I’m shocked they didn’t get replaced a long time ago.

Awesome!

Yeah.

Spot-on!

Nice saves you guys!

A building at my local college was built with a Simplex “u-bar” coded system. I was hoping to preserve it as I had a therapy appointment across the street. On my last day of therapy, the building I had my eyes on was well under the process of renovation. But all hope is not lost, the building I go to has an Edwards AC “doorbell system. Needless to say I’m watching that building like a hawk.

You never know: it could still be somewhere in the general area, such as in the backroom of whatever fire alarm service company uninstalled it (heck just because the building’s being renovated doesn’t mean the system isn’t still there).

Dont be afriad to ask someone
