Yesterday, we had two false fire alarms. The school is brand new and some parts are still under construction. The policy for the construction workers is to put dust covers over any smoke detectors that they are working near. Unfortunately, the sometimes forget. This is actually the 5th false alarm this year. Normally, we only have two at most throughout the entire year.
The first alarm was around 7:30 AM, which is before school. I was in Jazz Band. The alarm went off and we were outside for around 10 minutes. Other than administration and the construction workers, we were pretty much the only ones in the building. It did go off for a few seconds when we got back in (probably because they reset the system without cleaning the detector out), but it was immediately silenced. The fire department was called and searched the building.
The second false alarm was in the last period (around 3:00 PM). I was not in the school at the time because I was in construction class and the shop is not yet finished. We go to the old building for that class. I was told that the whole school was evacuated. Again, the FD was called and searched the building.
