Aren’t libraries supposed to be a quiet place? I’m at the library right now and they go off frequently.
The same reason any other store has them.
It’s there so nobody steals books and DVDs.
There’s usually a magnetic strip that needs to be deactivated at checkout in DVDs, so you can’t just walk out.
