Strange Screen on sign factory

In my town there is this sign factory that makes signs. I was leaving the Salvation Army and the screen had a black background and text that said “Master slave:Disk 1” It looked weird. Do you know why this could be happening? :? :?:

Probably that sign was most likely a oversized screen connected to an embedded PC… a store not too far I live had their advertising billboard show a nice… “BOOT FAILURE. REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE.” instead of the usual adverts slapped onto here…

I’ve yet to see one of these screen billboards show a “BSOD” that’d be something out of the ordinary  I’ve even seen on Reddit pictures of such billboards showing TeamViewer error messages (see when I told ya that those billboard signs are mostly embedded PCs? These PCs usually play a video, but I did not knew for sure that some were connected to a remote server with TeamViewer, maybe they let the remote server do all the decoding as these embedded billboard PCs are usually not very powerful and built to consume the least power possible)

Thanks. LOL

Now I really want to go out and see a sign that has a failure like that. LOL

If you would like to see more, there’s a subreddit for stuff like this that you may be interested in:

Public Blue Screen of Death (sorting by top of all time)

This is not an advertisement

Yes that’s that one subreddit,
here’s one example: Fortune cookie y’all say? I don’t think so.

I had to laugh at the fortune cookie one! That is very humorous!

I had seen even worse (my memory is fuzzy on the matter + back then I had a very “cheapo” [note from author: “cheapo” is an euphemism here] phone) :

An entire game store (that coincidently still used CRT screens to play demos on them…? Whatever, I’d expect these to be gone but I haven’t went here in a looooong time) has their “Demo screens” (basically a “dumb” TV hooked to a VCR/DVD combo what in sane earth, so they recorded a game footage and burned it on a DVD) had started failing one by one with a loud hiss and a magic smoke puff.

Wish I had recorded this  believe it or not, I’m still kicking myself hard in the back for not bringing out my (back then sub-par quality) camera and discreetly snagged a footage of that amusing incident.

Another one I can think of is actually my fault :
There was an Intel Nuc box hooked to a screen in a waiting room. The Nuc looped a PowerPoint slide show (ain’t remember what or why but I beg to differ) and you guessed it: I somehow accidentally crashed it (by tripping on the power strip it was plugged in, that box loved to lockup with weird artifacts on the screen if you lightly shoved the power adapter).

It did get locked up between two slides along with weird red/green/blue bars cutting over a portion of BSOD. The stubborn thing displayed nothing but this RGB stripes garbage with two slideshow slides somehow stuck in.

Absolutely I told them that this box was on its way out. No pictures because that was in a pretty off-limits facility.

I know what the word cheapo is. I think I have heard it before.
