I was told by my neighbor that when the fire alarm system was activated in the building, her Amseco door chime + strobe (model CM-4L) was activated too. I tried doing some brief research on the parent company (Potter Signal’s) website but couldn’t find anything on it. Is it possible for this door chime to be integrated into a fire alarm system?
That door chime has a manual push button input which could be operated by a relay in the fire alarm system. Not sure why that would be desirable though.
If the chime is connected to a people counter those use infrared sensors. Many years ago I saw the fire alarm strobe in a restroom turn the water on in all the sinks and flush all the toilets. The fixtures had infrared sensors for automatic control of the water. It was weird. The fire alarm strobes could be confusing the people counter sensors causing them to trigger.
