Weird Smoke alarm/fire sprinkler tie in?

So my grandma moved into a new apartment in December when we moved to Lowell and Gastonia. She moved to a large apartment with about 29 buildings (each 3 stories tall). The apartment was fitted with a First Alert 9120B in her bedroom and an ESL 449CT Heat detector beside a ESL 320M in front of her bedroom door. There is also a sprinkler system with a System Sensor SSM-24-6 Bell for FDC Signaling. Also worth mentioning is that the building riser is beneath the stairs and the door is next to her door. One day all of the smokes in her unit started screeching and she opened the door to see the riser door opened with black and dirty water flowing out of the pipes. This also meant that the bell was ringing. Does anyone known WHY a battery detector is tripped to a riser of all things?

I think it’s more likely that the smoke detectors are set to sound upon activation of other detectors in the building, or whenever the central control panel goes into alarm. Likely, the central panel has a programmable relay that will send the right power to trip the smoke alarm interconnects. If a sprinkler head activates, the waterflow switch will trip the central panel as well.
