The five men that carried this out need to be punished for all of the lives they destroyed.

To bad they wanted to die for the "cause." They feel they are with some virgins partying it up. Good thing we know that is not true.

The 5 plotters. The other hijackers were killed in the attacks. The five I was talking about were Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi, Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali and Walid Bin Attash.

Just a reminder, this topic is supposed to be about the evacuation systems in the World Trade Center and in large buildings in general only. Please remain on topic.

Yes, I am bumping an almost two-year old topic, but I figured this would be the most appropriate place to provide an update to my prediction below:
U8oL0 wrote:I have confirmed with a tech familiar with the matter that the system will indeed be made by FireCom, which, once again, is a New York based company.

According to him, all of the major Honeywell brands were trying very hard to get this project, due to its size and scope. However, FireCom agreed to sell the equipment to them for very cheap since they were after the service contract for the building.

Looks like the initiating devices are most likely to be rebranded Sigcom T-Bars, and rebranded Apollo smokes. My guess is that they'll use Wheelock Notification Appliances since that is what FireCom has used in other setups (such as in the new WTC 7 building).
I was watching videos of the interior of the new One World Trade Center and I noticed that the notification appliances are indeed Wheelock Speaker/Strobes. Here are two screenshots from a 2013 video from Forbes:

I do not know for sure if it is in fact a Firecom system which was installed in the new building, but it would be the most likely scenario. If anybody could verify that for sure or has any more information about this system, I would be interested in hearing about it.

Ah nice, E-50's, a decent choice in my opinion.

Old fire alarm guy wrote:The company that did most of the work on those MXL's was PyroSignal & Suppression. I worked for them during the first attack & left the company shortly before the MXL's were installed (I started working for them about a year after they opened).

I remember putting some of those XL3's in the mechanical spaces.

The programming software for the MXL's (CSGM) had to be adapted just for WTC due to the number of nodes on the system size of the buildings.
Thanks for sharing about Pyrosignal. Their website does indeed talk about their involvement in the World Trade Center fire alarm system. I actually didn't realize that there were XL3's installed in the buildings too, I thought it was just all MXL's.

Edit: After re-reading my first post, it looks like the XL3's were used in the original WTC system as smoke detector control. Guess I just forgot about that.

MXL's replaced the XL3's sometime in the early 90's. Even when you find XL3 devices in the field today, they're probably connected to an MXL panel.
