Can anyone tell what alarm used to be here?

This building at my school was built in 1976 and I was wondering what alarms it used to have. The cover plate looks a bit too large to be a Simplex 4050 light plate or AV-32.

Does anyone have any ideas of what could have been here before the system got replaced? I’m thinking it could’ve been an AV-34 but I don’t know what the dimensions of the AV-34 are.

This cover plate measures approximately 9.5 inches in height and 7 inches wide.

A newer EST-3 system is there now. The only light plate I’m aware of that EST manufactured is the rare 891D, which looks like it could possibly fit the description. Maybe that’s what it was.

(sorry for the double post. The forum somehow screwed up.)

With the screws in the corner, “891D” was my first guess, too. And since it was part of an EST system, that’s probably your answer.

The other light plates that have screws in the corner are the Standard Electric plates with the vertical lens, and the Faraday light plate of the type that YouTube user jtd321 has.

Not in any areas that I have access to.

This is some very useful information. Thank you! I’m guessing it was an 891D based on all this evidence.

So those 891D horns can be flush mount into the walls and not just surface mount then? I’ve only saw them ever online surface mounted so that is interesting to know.

Speaking of that, I wonder if Federal3t22 ever got a light for his 891D…
