Cooper Industries is happy to announce the reintroduction of our most famous notification appliance. The 7002T series will relaunch in late May, after a hiatus of over 34 years, back by popular demand. These high-powered electromechanical horn/strobes will now feature a temporal option, as well as a multi-candela, synchronizable strobe light. 7002T series horn/strobes are designed for locations requiring the use of a low-frequency, high-penetration signal, and where more ruggedly constructed devices are preferred. This line of classic horn/strobes will be available in the UK market as the Fulleon Melodi WH.

The Wheelock 7002T didn’t even come out until 1985 which is less than 34 years ago. So there’s something wrong with the “34 years in hiatus” in the story. It is likely an April Fools joke. The 34 years thing makes that clear.

If only this were real! I wonder why they didn’t make one back in the mid-90s, as other companies were still using mechanical horns at that time.
That actually makes me wonder - was the 34T still in production for a while after the 7002T was discontinued? Would have been interesting to see those installed on ADA-compliant retrofit plates, or alongside ADA-compliant remote strobes.
I’m glad that this topic moved to the discussion about the creation being taken off the link it was on rather than the fact that people actually believed this was real.

Yeah. 34 years ago was 1984. The Wheelock 7002t hadn’t even come out yet.
TBH, if they decided to redo the 7002T, it would probably look like a 34T with a ZNS strobe put through the middle with rounding done to “modernize” the body of the horn. If I had to guess, the model number would probably be Wheelock MHS (mechanical horn/strobe) or MH (mechanical horn).
