Fire alarms hanging on poles coming down from the ceiling.

Have you seen this? A local Dick’s Sporting Goods store has white SpectrAlert Classics hanging on poles coming down from the ceiling. Some of the NAs are Advances that likely replaced the Classics.

Just once at my high school. While the only 2DCDs+AV32s that were connected were outside the cosmetology shop and in the former assessment center, some areas had them next to 4901+9838s connected to the ceiling and hanging down. They were connected to the back, so the face was pointing to the floor. All alarms like this were disconnected though.

I’ve seen those before. I usually see it when the ceiling is notably high and there is nothing to be put up in the upper half of the building, so they’ll just stick some conduit and put a ceiling mount NA on the end.
