What does the Braille text on the Fire-Lite BG-12 say exactly? (You can find a diagram with the Braille text in the pull station's manual.)

Top braille: fire alarm

Bottom Braille: push and pull

If I’m not mistaken.

What is the history of the "WHEN BELL RINGS DIAL 911" compliance signs? Was this because old fire alarm systems lacked the ability to dial 911 on their own due to limited technology? What dictates the use of such sign? Is there some sort of safety code surrounding this that mandates their use?

I have seen these signs in a variety of applications from indoor malls, factories, offices, or more unusually on the exterior of new-ish single family tract houses. (seemingly built with fire sprinklers). Always with that iconic fire alarm bell.

That fire alarm bell is not actually an active device. It is a motor bell that sounds when water flows through the sprinkler pipe. So yes, the sign says to call 911 because it predates dialers. I am unfamiliar with the law that would dictate these signs.

Actually, there are FACP-powered waterflow alarms that also have the sign, such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wMFgnGcIms Most modern installations use such setup.

A: 2002 when the 4100U was released

T or F: The early model QuickStarts had a mechanical buzzer piezo before switching to the more recognizable electrical piezo?
Hint: You’d be surprised
