"When bell rings call fire department."

Did anyone here used to think fire alarms were all only local and didn’t notify the fire department when they went off? I did when I was younger. Those sprinkler bells all over the place that said “when bell rings call fire department” reinforced that belief.

However it is probably good to call the fire department anyway. You can give them more information, like where the fire started in the building.

Nope. I always believed that when the fire alarm went off, unless it was a drill the fire department would come check out the building.

Of course, I also believed that the principal had a button on his desk that he would press to do a fire drill until I was in 5th grade and I saw the principal key a pull station. But later in life I discovered I was half right.
