Fire Block Foam or Caulk

Hello,

I have a pending Fire Alarm install in a commercial building. I will need to
use a Fire Block around wall penetrations.

Anyone have a recommendation for what is to be used or not used
in this kind of application??

Thanks for any input.

Les

As long as it’s rated for that intended purpose, than whatever you can find at your local hardware store. But, I believe it has to be red in colour. I would recommend 3M fire barrier sealant, it’s the one I use and I see it used everywhere else.

Yes, as EdwardsFan states, it must be rated and listed for the intended purpose. Never use general purpose caulking or insulation. There are many fire stop products available, be certain that the specifications meet what the building design requires and the F-rating meets or exceeds the fire rating of the wall. Follow all manufacturers’ instructions. I have used the moldable putty before and found it very easy to work with.
