Hi everyone. I have an Edwards 896B-001 fire alarm new from ebay. Is there anyway i can lower the volume of the horn like the screws used to adjust the strobe? Please let me know asap. Thanks
Just FYI, the 896Bs are speakers and shouldn’t receive straight 24V into the audible wires like horns normally do, that would likely damage the speaker.
There is a transformer on the back of the device with a couple terminals coming out of it. Those terminals (.5, 1, 2, and 4 watts) are used to select the power output for the speaker, C is the common.
There is a red wire that connects to one of the terminals and can be moved as needed to select the power level if it needs to be changed. Be careful when moving the wire around, the terminals can come loose and pull out of the transformer.
To lower the volume, decrease the power level. What are you going to be using to power these speakers, they were designed to be powered by 70V audio amps. They may act differently if powered by something different.
