FireLite MS-5UD-3 DACT

I have the on board DACT programmed to call my cell phone. Everything works just fine when the system goes off but it will keep calling me over and over again even after I reset. The red LED on the primary phone line stays lit until I completely remove power. Is this a quick fix in programming?

A DACT is designed to communicate with a DACR (Digital Alarm Communicator Receiver) which, depending on the communication format, responds to the DACT with specific handshake signals. Then the data is exchanged and if the DACR acknowledges to the DACT that there were no errors the DACT hangs up.

Your cell phone cannot supply the signals the DACT must receive from a DACR. It is an incomplete call. So the DACT retries to connect to a DACR until the call timeout limit is reached. Then a communication trouble should come up on the panel.

You are attempting to use the DACT in your panel for a purpose it was not designed to do.

you can put a dial capture cellular and set that to send a text or use the fire relay to trip something that will take a dry contact. Your easiest route would be to have an alarm company slap on an uplink, starlink or telguard to send a text

Agree with Retired STR-SG. Widely adopted codes dictate that a monitored system communicate directly with an UL certified central station, not your personal phone. Your personal phone can be the first on the central station’s respond list, but the central station must be able to dispatch emergency personnel even if you are unreachable.

If this is in addition to central station monitoring, or the AHJ actually allows you to be unmonitored, then sure, add a voice dialer or dialer that sends you sms or email on the relay contacts. Just don’t depend on it as you would a central station.
