120 BPM Marchtime

Is there any way that this can be done without a fire alarm panel? I personally don’t have a panel, but I have a 32VDC power supply (sometimes I just use 3 nine-volt batteries).

32VDC? You’re really close to over volting your alarms

That march time circuit originated in this DIY fire alarm panel drawing and I adapted it as an add on to an existing panel.

32 volts is at the maximum rating for many devices. As for the MTM circuit, that is very near the absolute maximum input for the LM7805 regulator, which is 35 volts. Recommended input voltage is 7 volts to 25 volts.

I usually only use it when I use my 9236. I found the power supply in a neighbors garbage on garbage day when they threw out an HP printer. Either that or I use a 19.5V power supply, but that is too low of a voltage. I’m planning on getting a 24V 6.5amp power supply soon to power my alarms though. I don’t use the power supply with mechanical horns because it’s way too much current. I hate using batteries though because they get expensive.

You could add a 24 volt regulator circuit to the output of the 32 volt power supply. Here is a module on Ebay for $10. It is based on a 7824 which would give 1 amp capacity.

If you can get SKSS working, you can create custom coding options and create it yourself. The disadvantage of this is; getting SKSS to work is a whole other problem.

Exactly! I’ve been trying to get it to work for a long time now and it just doesn’t connect to the panel

For skss, you need a regular serial port. A USB to serial adapter doesn’t work. I’ve also heard that farenhyt panels need a proprietary version of skss, so good luck.

I would be very surprised if there was not a default option already programmed into it that would need to be programmed via the computer, since Honeywell products tend to replace the Simplex systems (unless replaced with a 4006 or 4008) or likewise; because the UD panels have them and Silent Knight is also owned by Honeywell.

Isn’t Hochiki a Japanese company anyways? I do know that they manufactured all of the smoke detectors for Simplex until they switched to the current TrueAlarm line which is manufactured by System Sensor, interestingly enough.
