Here’s another one. This time I got a little fancier - actually used some of my own software to draw out the building, but still had to draw in the devices by hand. Believe this was about a year after the first one I posted. This is another daycare - under renovation, they tore everything out and completely renovated the building. The entire building was originally one big vaulted ceiling room, the office in the front corner and area around the mechanical room in the front were the only enclosed rooms. Classroom #3 was an addition. They wanted to break up the building into smaller rooms for sound and kid control. So originally there wasn’t much - 4-6 smoke detectors in the main room, heat detection in the mechanical room, pull stations at the doors (all the doors were kept), and only two or three horns throughout. The panel was originally located where the closet in the foyer is now. The dotted lines in the plan indicate where the ceiling went from 10’ to a vaulted ceiling. So added a ton of smokes and a lot more notification including strobes in the bathrooms and horns in the classrooms - a big change from the one we did a year ago. I had originally placed horn/strobes in the classrooms but the boss shot that down and didn’t want the extra expense. He didn’t want to put anything in there at first but I managed to convince him to at least put horns only in the classrooms - the construction of the building was going to make it a beast to try to add horns into the classrooms after the renovation if we had too, and that convinced him. Napco 6024 FACP (reused), System Sensor 2100 series smokes, System Sensor Spectralert horns, strobes, and horn/strobes (they were actually horns in the classrooms even though I had labeled them as “sounders”, this may have been a last minute change), the pull stations were reused from what was installed originally - can’t remember what they were but they were a PITA allen key reset. Hey, I labeled the devices this time!
Well at least my wal-mart, built 2000-2001. Only two(know) NAs. An RSS in service and a AS they covered up with a sign( Should write to FM). All sprinklered, Ansul System in deli, and an Ansul system in the center of building(According to blueprints). Pull in service and some smokes.
One Wal-Mart near me has a system with Wheelock n/a’s, and unknown other parts except for a metal unknown brand tbar and generic red fire security Annunciator in customer service. N/a’s are rss’s (remote strobes) in bathrooms and probably other small areas, as’s on all four sides of square ceiling support poles, there were clusters about every other pole if you think of there being tons of these things. Grocery area just had the as’s on two sides of the poles facing away from each other and not as many.
A different Wal-Mart near me has a system sensor system with ceiling spectralert advance h/s’s.
I’ve actually googled quite a few fire alarm drawings, government entities (especially schools) tend to post them online. Not sure if they do it intentionally or not but it’s easy to come by some random buildings.
