Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)

I have some updates to systems I’ve shared in the past, mainly from the Northville Shopping Center.

The first is from the Kroger supermarket. Originally, the notification appliances consisted of System Sensor PS2475ADA horn/strobes, but over a year ago, all were replaced with SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes and strobes. I also noticed a couple of Edwards 868STRB-AQ horn/strobes; one behind the customer service area, and another above an entry door to a dairy cooler. Both are used as refrigeration alarms.

The second update is from Bed Bath & Beyond, also in the same shopping center. I previously discussed the National Time system the place has several years back, but on a recent return trip, I noticed some new discoveries. There’s a white Gentex GMS/SHG horn/strobe (possibly re-branded by National Time) in a top-floor administrative area which may act as a security alarm. Also, one of the National Time horn/strobes broke and was replaced at some point in time by a Wheelock MTWP horn/strobe.

Lastly, there’s something noteworthy about a few of the exit alarms here. One area has three Alarm Lock Sirenlock Model 250/260 devices within close proximity of each other that are no longer used. The fire doors they are installed on are propped open, and at least one of the devices is missing its red push plate. The reason for this is because the floor plan is set up where one of the doors is from the sales area and the remaining two are from stockrooms located across from each other. All three exits lead into a small corridor with a forth and final fire door that has an Arrow 430-series exit alarm installed.

Leaving the shopping center behind, my last update for this post is from Mr. C’s Car Wash, formerly the Northville Car Wash. There’s a Federal Signal 350 vibratory horn installed that acts as a warning when the conveyor belt starts moving the car.
