Fire Alarms in Buildings (2.0)

That does sound like a really cool system! So the educational part of the building has more strobes than horn/strobes then?

Eastridge mall has a cool Wheelock/Fire-Lite/Faraday/A*T system

MALL:
Fire-Lite Smokes

Spectralert speaker strobes on ceiling

Sprinklers scattered about

Belk:

T (I did not see the brand well) BG-10s

Curt’s premium outlet: Radionics keypad in front
Faraday RMS-1T-KLs
Wheelock ASs (the rare sideways model:
Wheelock LSM strobes
System Sensor 2400 smokes

Teddys outlet (Yes the mall has more outlets then stores)

Same system as Curts. I don’t feel like going over it again

DILLARDS OUTLET (My job!!!)

No pulls or keypads seen. Spectalert classics everywhere. No other FA equipment seen

Old motor gong bell outside by post office door with FDC pipes and sprinkler drains

Caromont Hospital:

PANEL:
Johnson Controls METASYS fire alarm panel in The birthplace lobby

Spectalert chime/strobes that have a custom label that says “FIRE ALERT”
JC BG-12s around place
System Sensor 2400 Smokes
Wheelock RSS
Wheelock Exceder ceiling mounts in some places
Wheelock ceiling mount white speakers in places
Wheelock wall mount speaker or chime strobes in some areas
Spectalert classics in parking garage (half covered in dirt and/or a bee nest)

(There is also most likely some Wheelock ceiling speaker/strobes hiding within the hospital confines)

So you are telling me that most of the classic SpectrAlerts in the parking garage have bees nests stuck to them?

Yep. I saw it a week ago when I went to see my grandma in the building. (She had the flu)

Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus (Novi) - Similar to Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, this facility (opened in 2008) was built with an existing outpatient center (circa late 1980s - early 1990s) on the site. The only difference is that there is a corridor that connects the hospital with the outpatient center instead of being built around it. This post covers only the outpatient center.

Gentex GMS/SHG horn/strobes and strobes; one of the devices had its strobe removed!
One Arm-A-Dor-series exit alarm used as a push bar for an emergency exit door

There is an easy way you can tell if the horn is a SHG or GMS. Is it is silver on the inside, it is a GMS.

They built a new parking garage here in Brockton MA and named it after our former mayor, who unfortunately passed away this summer. The dedication and unveiling ceremony was today, and I was there as K-O the Kangaroo!
The parking garage has a Notifier NFS-320 system; it’s not turned on yet, but all the devices have been installed, and the wiring still needs to be finished before the system can be turned on before the garage opens. At the main stairwell entrance on the first level, there’s an FDU-80 annunciator.
The alarm signals consist of System Sensor L-series horn/strobes (P2RLs) in enclosed areas like the office/restroom area (where I changed in and out of costume) and the stairwells, while other areas have ceiling-mount weatherproof SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes (PC2RKs). The L-series has only been out for two years, and like I predicted, they’re already starting to become common.
The smoke detectors (mostly found at the elevator and in the electrical room the panel is located at) are Notifier’s new FSP-951 smoke detectors! I knew it was only a matter of time before I saw these in real life. But besides that, the pull stations are NBG-12LXs.

What was the parking garage for since I’m sure it was built for some company. Was it built to increase parking for somewhere?

Yeah, it’s basically a public parking garage that anyone can use, especially people who work downtown. This is the second parking garage to be built downtown; we previously had one built near City Hall in 1986, and I think it originally had Wheelock 7001(T) horn/strobes before replacing them with weatherproof MT horn/strobes.

How did you come to the conclusion that there were originally 7001(T) horn/strobes there before? Was there any sign keft that they were there before they installed the Wheelock MTs?

A closer view of the EST3 panel at my high school. (I had to censor out the name of the school on the LCD, and a phone number written on that label on the right corner. I did it for privacy reasons, the LCD isn’t normally blank like that)

They are mounted on weatherproof backboxes that are just the size for 7001(T)s. Plus, Wheelock’s RP-Rs are just the exact same size as the 7001(T)s.

Yeah that would end up being a pretty good guess with all the evidence. I have to admit I am also known to take guesses on what alarms were in a building before an upgrade.

Hey if they feel like the population of elderly people is too much, all they need to do is send the ones with a weak heart to the hospital and do a fire drill. XD
