Gentex LED Commander 5 Signals

It looks like Gentex now has a “GTMH” horn listed by UL and CSFM. I suspect that this will be replacing the GX-93 and Commander2, and according to the CSFM listing, it will be compatible with the T3/T4 mode from the GTSM.

Oh? Was wondering when the remote horn models would come out.

It’ll be replacing both the GX-93-series & the Commander 2-series huh? Well, might as well I guess for consistency (though I’m not sure about the GX-93 since it’s the only mini horn Gentex makes, which might still see use in some cases).

That is just speculation. The CSFM listing is the same listing containing the GX-91 and GX-93, which leads me to believe it will have a similar profile to the GX-93, but since there is currently no general-purpose horn with T3/T4 capability, it seems that the GTMH would also serve that purpose.

HenBasket connected a Commander4 to a GTSM on T4 mode and this happened:

These pulses appear to be spaced approximately 5 seconds apart, so I suspect that the GTSM works by unsilencing the horn for 1 second at a time and the T4-capable devices interpret that as T4 mode.

Just now I happened to notice that, not only are there now mass notification Commander 5 devices listed on Gentex’s website, but also that a lot of their older & discontinued products have finally been removed from the “Products” section of it (which I think is a shame as it’s always good to have reference for discontinued products: the least they could have done is make a section specifically for them like some companies have done).

The discontinued product documents are still available here. I don’t know if they plan on taking them down any time soon, since the GXS-120 datasheet is still there (though I think the GXS-120 may have also been on the main product page as well despite its discontinuation).

Also, the colored lens Commander5 devices have finally been released, and the documents for the Commander5 have been posted. The GHSLFC manual also includes instructions for the xenon GHSLF, so that might remain in production for a while.

It also looks like Hochiki might not rebrand the Commander5 but instead direct customers to Gentex.

Sure, but it was nice still having the product pages too if you ask me.

That’s what I already noted.

Oh? Hmm…

The GTMH horns are now being posted some sellers such as JMAC.

Oh, so there will indeed be Commander 5 remote horn models too? (don’t know why there wouldn’t be as it would just make sense to have all 4 or so kinds of NAs in the line for consistency) I wonder if that means we’ll be seeing the Commander 2 go away after all if it won’t be needed to fill the gap the lack of Commander 5 remote horn models would create.

We discussed this here. The store pages seem to describe this as a “mini horn” and do not mention anything about multitone capabilities (outside of T3/T4), so the GTMH will probably just be a slightly modified GX93, contrary to what I previously speculated.

The GHSLFC is not part of the Commander5 line for some reason, despite being very similar to the GSS. This is probably related to the fact that the xenon GHSLF devices will remain in production.

I Do recall seeing blue colored commander 5s for Bluepoint

I just noticed that the dual strobe expander plates are also gone, with no replacement. This might be a general trend since Wheelock also discontinued the RSSP a while back with no replacement.

Oh, okay. Interesting…(there still ought to be Commander 5 remote horn models for consistency though)

Oh? Alright, not sure why Gentex wouldn’t just LED-ify their entire NA line though.

Oh? Good eye: actually didn’t notice that myself. Honestly not sure why Gentex kept them on their website at first considering you could no longer buy the speaker/strobes that went with them.

Yep: they’re now a rebrander/seller/adopter of them.
