Exactly. Technically, all electrical work should be done by a licenced electrician. In certain situations, it would even require a building permit if the resulting changes would deviate greatly from the plans of when the house was built (talking about MAJOR changes here.) It is a risky world out there when you start looking at the legal issues surrounding this hobby. However, you can isolate all of it from the codes by just putting it on a piece of plywood. Even if you decide to attach it to the wall, at that point it basically just becomes a very fancy picture.

More like an interactive picture . Anyways it’s better to keep it simple then too complicated.
The Big Green:You should consider using a sheet of plywood instead, because that is the most practical solution. Mounting alarms around your house also poses a liability issue.
I second this. The argument about placing alarms in your home vs. the liability and dangers has surfaced on alarm forums too many times to count. MDF and HDF (medium/high density fiber) board is more attractive than plywood and easier to mount stuff too, so I would recommend that.
well MDF is compressed sawdust and almost has no strength (for what i use it for) i would recommend plywood with an MDF outer layer on it drill pilot holes if needed.

MDF is extremely strong, albeit not as hard to drill through as HDF.
Secondly, did you just reply to your own post? :?
On a somewhat related note, does anyone else here, other than me, unplug their system after testing it for videos and such?
I do not unplug it
I unplug the batteries and then the panel.
