Is it true that Simplex will be going non proprietary by end of this year???

From what I have been able to gather, the most recent versions of the ES programmer have indeed included the option to convert current 4100ES panels into 4100ESi, which is the non-proprietary version.
No other panels versions, such as the 4007ES or the 4010ES include this option.
Whether that is indicative of the brand moving towards that direction I am not sure.
At my current branch, there has been no talk of the company heading towards that direction, but then again I haven’t really asked.

I also agree with Retired STR-SG as it being a strange move to try to bring Autocall into the mix of non-propriety and then do the same to the Simplex brand, if they were trying to keep them from competing with each other.

What exactly happens when the panel is converted into a 4100ESi? Does it enable front panel programming, or does it just switch to a different programming software?
