Incidentally, I forgot to mention that last month I got another new pull station: an Edwards 278B-1110 dual-action pull rebranded by Honeywell!
Cool. I had no clue that Honeywell distributed any Edwards products.
I remember a picture a while back of an old Edwards 270-SPO pull station with the old Honeywell shield logo on the bottom.
Sometimes they still use Edwards products (usually with their own logo on them). Several stores at the Westgate Mall in my city have EST Genesis horn/strobes, yet itâs a Notifier fire alarm system (the pulls in those stores are NBG-12LXs; the rest of the mall mostly has Wheelock alarms).

Old Faraday âarrow-handleâ pull station. I got this one from user simplex 2901-9833 (traded one of my 4251-20s for it). Rather interesting pull, actually.

STI Stopper II cover (version without sounder). I got this from Massasoit College when they were doing some system upgrades this summer.
Simplex 4903-9236 horn/strobe. Currently the strobe doesnât work, but the horn does (and is LOUD). I plan to replace the strobe in the near future.
Simplex 4906-9151 TrueAlert speaker/strobe. I just got this one today! It is non-addressable and multi-candela.

Well, I have now been collecting fire alarms for two years! Here are my latest updates to the collectionâŚ
System Sensor âclassicâ SpectrAlert horn/strobe. This particular model is a P1224MC (runs on 12/24 -VDC operation and has a multi-candela strobe). Itâs actually my quietest fire alarm horn in my collection when itâs set to electromechanical/low volume. I still see these in many places (mostly restaurants or smaller stores), along with the SpectrAlert Advance.
Back of the SpectrAlert. It came with those metal jumpers so it could also be used as a 2-wire alarm (this is how I prefer to run it).
System Sensor i3 photoelectric 2-wire smoke/heat detector. I got this from Massasoit College when they replaced the Science and Technology buildingsâ systems this summer (2-zone Faraday FireWatch IIs being swapped out for a fully addressable Notifier/JC NFS2-640 system.) These detectors were installed in 2008 when they initially replaced all the old signals and pulls and most of the old heat sensors.
Old Standard Electric Time heat sensor, made by Chemtronics. They actually still had a few of these in the basements, while the other parts of the buildings had the i3 detectors replace them in 2008. I also got this from the college during the system upgrade this summer (they replaced all the old heat sensors and existing smoke detectors with addressable Notifier 2251 smoke detectors.)

Chemtronics 601 heat sensor; they had this somewhere in the Liberal Arts or Humanities buildings before they were renovated in 2005 and upgraded to their current Faraday MPC-7000 system (which may also be on its way out soon.)
On the right is the Chemtronics 601, and on the left is my old Simplex 4255-5 heat sensor. They both look very similar (but I think the 4255-5 was actually manufactured by Edwards.)
Fire-Lite BG-10 pull station I got from Fire Alarm Fan (it just arrived today). I do like how strong the âPUSH INâ spring panel is; itâs pretty difficult to pull the alarm without pushing the panel in to grasp the lever.

An OLD Simplex 4262-5 ionization smoke detector. They have one of these at the K-8 school I went to for kindergarten, located in the cafetorium.

Inside the detector, with the cover removed. According to the tag, this was made by the Statitrol Corporation, and has a manufacturing date of February 5, 1971!
Wheelock RP-R retrofit plate. I put my Wheelock AS on it for this picture for demonstration purposes. This was meant for when a Wheelock signal would replace an older audible/visual alarm (any of the old SAE, Simplex or Standard alarms, etc.)

So far, I also should be getting an Edwards 270-SPO pull, Wheelock 34T horn, Simplex 4050-83 light plate, 4903-9105 strobe plate and 2099-9103 pull station from 7002t/Dan D., and another Wheelock MT (horizontal strobe) from NewAgeServer.
Glad to see that the BG-10 arrived! And the 4262-5 is indeed made by Statitrol, hereâs a video showing one.
Itâs coming along great! I canât even remember the last time I got a new alarm, itâs been at least 6-8 months. Iâm sort of at the point where there isnât much out there I donât already have.
Pretty cool! I know Simplex also used that late 1970s Statitrol detector in the 1980s, but with a MAPNET addressable chip inside it. All their other pre-TrueAlarm detectors I know were manufactured by ESL, Hochiki, Pyrotector and possibly System Sensor (that 2098-9577 ion detector.)
OK, itâs been a while, but I FINALLY got a fire alarm panel!
I got this used Simplex 4001 off eBay, dirt cheap! ($50, the seller said it was pulled from a functional system.) It doesnât have batteries, but I can easily find those two (I saw even Panasonic makes 12-volt batteries that can be used in fire alarm panels!) It also didnât come with a key, but of course I got several Simplex B-keys from when the local middle school removed their Simplex 4100U system last summer, so I was all set for that.
Iâm surprised at how large the 4001 was in person. Itâs even bigger than those older dual-bay 4207/4208 annunciators!
Inside the panel. This particular model is a 4001-9403. I havenât tried hooking it up to a power supply yet, and I wonât until I get some more knowledge about them and the batteries (I downloaded several 4001 manuals online.)
Close-up of the labels. They say âDUCT DETECTORS,â âSPARE,â âSPRINKLER FLOW SW,â and âSPRINKLER TAMPER & AIR PRESSURE.â This suggests this particular panel was used as part of a larger fire alarm system.
On the back of the cabinet door. It has a WD date of September 7, 1988, but I donât think it was installed in a system until later, as there was a date scribbled inside (June 17, 1993.)
Cool! Make sure to post videos of it. The 4001 is an awesome panel. Just be sure to be careful with it!

This covers âMiscellaneous,â meaning STI, Space Age Electronics and Chemtronics respectively.
IBM. For good measure I added the IBM clock there as well. The pull station I got off eBay, but the clock and bell are from the local middle school.
Faraday (including Standard Electric Time.) Except for that âarrow handleâ pull (I got that from user simplex 2901-9833), everything else you see there I acquired from Massasoit College, left over from renovations and system upgrades.
The Honeywell-subsidiary stuff. The BG-6 and SpectrAlert I bought off eBay a while back, the BG-10 is from Fire Alarm Fan, and the smoke detectors I also got from Massasoit College.
Edwards/EST. I still need to get an Adapt-a-horn mechanism or something for the âFIRE HORNâ grilleâŚ
Wheelock. I do plan to get more (I am planning on getting at least a 7002T and NS horn/strobe in my collection.)
