Mike's Alarm Collection

I actually have one of those Whelen strobe+ESL smoke combos, too. Right now its on the floor, leaning against the wall right bellow that alarm wall.

Where the hell do you find all of this crazy stuff?!

All over the place. I get a lot of stuff on ebay, but I also work in fire protection and know several others that do, too. Sometimes I even find stuff in local buildings. In addition, I’ve been collecting for about 11 years.

Damn 11 years of collecting really shows in your collection. Have you found any of your hopeful finds yet (Atlas speaker, 7002T style chime, etc.)?

Not yet. The last time I was able to cross a major item off my list was about 6 months ago with that Edwards horn strobe you see next to the Whelen strobe.

I did however find something very close to an item I’m looking for the other day. I’ll keep it a secret until I receive it.

Oh yea that h/s is sick. I can’t wait to see what you found.

All I will say is that it is a different variation of one of the alarms on my wanted list. Close, but slightly different. I’m not sure anyone here has ever seen one, I know I hadn’t prior to buying it.

I just looked at the list and I can’t even guess what alarm it’s a variation of, all of the ones on the list are so rare sounding I can’t imagine that they have variations of them.

That’s what I thought originally, but sometimes even after you think you’ve seen everything, you can be pleasantly surprised. I’m sure there are dozens of devices still out there I have no knowledge about.

Do you have a youtube with any of the rare devices showcased? If you don’t, i don’t know if you’d have the time to make videos (I don’t know your work schedule) but you should make some rare alarm vids. I’m sure a lot of people are curious to see some of your alarms in action (I’m curious to see the JC plate in action).

In a way I’d be curious to see some inaction, assuming they even still work. However, I’m not all that talented with electricity, part of the reason I went the suppression route with my career. Time would be somewhat problematic. Where I work full time I don’t have too much time during the week to play around with. Once you get to a certain age you start to realize the truth behind the phrase “time flies”.

I have been thinking about the possibility of posting everything on my own alarm site, maybe Jared could help me out. I have individual photos of ever device I own and keep a little catalog on my laptop.

Yea I’d imagine, I’m still a teenager so I don’t know quite how quickly time flies yet. But a website would be awesome.

I’ll have to ask Jared if he minds lending me a hand. I tried setting up an alarm site once and it only frustrated me.

By all means though, if you want to copy/save any pics of my devices and share them with anyone you know from elsewhere, be my guest.

Thanks! With an alarm count that high a website is needed

Yeah, I’d be happy to help!
