I believe it was to meet UL 9th edition requirements. Notice how on this archived page, the NFS2-3030, NFW-50, NFW2-100, and DVC are all explicitly marked as being UL 9th edition listed.
Maybe. The 2nd gen Onyx panels did add some more features and removed other stuff. Could’ve been tied to 9th edition.
