Questions about Adderessable Fire Alarm Panels

  1. Addressable panels have an SLC instead of IDC’s. Devices can be wired in Class A or B like IDC’s, only all devices are in parallel and no EOLR’s are used.
  2. It depends on the module. Any module that takes auxiliary power from the panel will be able to supply power to compatible 2-wire smokes. Mini modules are usually powered over the SLC and would only work with non-powered or 4-wire devices.
  3. The Fire-Lite MS-9050UD or MS-9200UDLS are always good choices. Easy to use, easy to find, and compatible with easy to find devices. The Simplex 4010 is also an excellent panel, though they tend to be overpriced. Since you’re already familiar with Silent Knight, the 5700 would be another option.
