Rare Fire Alarms

I think that is a rare National Time 514 with a Faraday-style dual projector. Put that in a fire museum if you ever get your hands on it.

I recently got one of these. It’s a Mirtone 73303U rebranded by Per Mar Security

I think I’ve already shared these, but my dad’s apartment has these along with rebranded Wheelock 34 horns and system sensor 2400s

Got this thing

There’s a few of these EST Integrity PowerSaver speaker strobes throughout the Pierce County Environmental Services Building.

Also Discourse seems to reduce the resolution of 50MP images to a third of it’s size.

I’ve seen a few of these in a high school in my city. They got an EST system in the 90s after a major upgrade and addition. Never realized they were considered power savers lol.

I found a few rare devices while serching around on the internet.

Some sort of fire light from the 20’s.

A white (or yellow as the caption describes it) Gamewell fire box from the 50’s.

Another (refurbished) 50’s Gamewell fire box that has the pedestal and a light.

A battery-operated fire alarm by the company Tanita. I’m interested to know how it works since I haven’t found any videos about it.

Here’s a rare variant of an already rare device: an IBM 4252 pull station with French lettering. I found it on Marketplace earlier this week (the listing is no longer up, and I’m not the one who bought it). This is one of the photos from the listing:

Interestingly, the “pull down” text on the handle was translated as “press”, and an “e” is missing at the end of the word “local”.

I wonder if French versions of the 4251-series “chevron” pull stations were also offered.

Speaking of rare Chevron variants, I wound up with a somewhat odd (and maybe rare) version, unlike most Chevrons I’ve seen, this one has a NO/NC dual contact switch.

Model number is 4251-17, on the outside, nothing differentiates it from a regular 4251 Chevron, but in the back, the switch has four pigtails sticking out: two for the NC contact, and two for the NO contact.

(will edit in the pictures of it when I’ll get back home, currently away for the week)

Here it is… From the outside, it’s a plain old Chevron (well, that one was N.I.B. but that’s just a tiny detail):

However when you open it up:

^ yes I realized it’s upside-down, sorry for that. Here’s what it says on the label:

SIMPLEX
3 AMP 125 VAC 124VDC .5 AMP
TYPE 4251-17

The switch also looks a bit different (forgot to take a picture of the inside of the pull) and has four pigtails, one pair labeled “OPEN” and the other “CLOSE” on a sticker… One of them fell off:

Here’s the backbox, type 4299-3:

What the heck is this thing!!?

I would believe that this device is used to alert people as to when the door is opened, as the door is marked with “EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY” and “SECURITY AREA”. Because this is a protected area, there is most likely this alarm here to warn people about the door being opened. As for the actual notification appliance, I believe the horn is a Simplex 2901-9517 horn (or similar variant) judging by the grille pattern, and the light plate appears to be a 2903 plate marked “DOOR”. My best guess is that this was either custom ordered or made, but I am unsure of why this is here as this is a really odd choice for a door alarm, and also a pretty rare one. Most of the door alarms these days are Gentex Commanders or Wheelock Multi-Tone devices for general signaling. It is also interesting that this device has not been replaced yet, as the fire alarm system seems to be extremely new, with TrueAlert ES speaker strobes. Anyways just a cool old door alarm.

Looks like someone modified a 2903 (of some variant) with a 2901-9838 behind it. I can confirm it was not produced that way as some knowledgeable Simplex experts have told me they never offered “Door” alrams. Prob was kept for this purpose after the speaker strobe was installed.

This PDF shows what ones they did make though. Appears “HELP” was the only general lense they made.

Just wondering has anyone ever seen a Beige MASS ADA?

Ferry in Port Aransas

KAC call points are stupidly common in the UK but still nice

That’s not KAC that’s Consillium which might be a rebrand which wouldn’t surprise me

KAC made the call point originally
