Rare Smoke Detectors

About the above Wake 'n Warn pics: These used to use the SA76RS/77R’s PCB, I saw one on eBay a while ago. Then they transitioned to the 76RC/79R’s PCB they used the same design, then changed the cover to reflect the 79R’s.

Really, so early Wake n’ Warn models used the squealer horn? Interesting.

Also, what is the BRK 77R? SD47 educated us on the 77AC/DC. Is the 77R the BRK version of the First Alert SA76RS? If so, is the cover similar to the BRK 79R?

The 77R was basically the equivalent of the SA76RS. It had the same cover as the 769AC.

Ah ok. So it had the universal 70’s BRK cover. Interesting.

Thanks! Next time I go to his house and get a video of it in action. (if his stepdad is not home)

Mastercraft (Canada) also used the 70’s BRK cover design in some of their alarms. They had the same PCB as the SA76RC & SA67
I really want that 1839ACI on eBay, it’s the same one at my church, but I don’t have the money to get it right now.

Me neither. It sure is one bada!@ alarm though.

Ah. Yes, the MasterCrafts! FireAlarmFan (NLind) posted a video of his. For simplicity’s sake, I’m going to assume it was already posted earlier in this massive thread. If not, check out NLind’s channel on YouTube. He has tons of rare smoke alarms.

Speaking of Mastercraft, here’s the Montgomery Ward version:

Montgomery Ward 84-7 Back | smokedetector47 | Flickr

Montgomery Ward 84-7 Internals | smokedetector47 | Flickr

Model number 84-7. If Wards used the date of introduction as model number like BRK and First Alert, it would suggest that this one was made in 1984, but the Wards logo on the back stopped being used in 1982.

Wow! Identical to the Mastercraft version, minus the sticker. The funny part is, I believe I’ve seen this M. Ward model in a cabin at a national park. It was very dirty and didn’t have a battery in it. Saw it around 2004.
I could tell it was that model because the cover was laying on a table near it. I saw the “wings” on the cover.

That Montgomery Wards alarm is a rebrand of a rebrand! It’s a rebrand of the Mastercraft, which is a rebrand of the First Alert SA76RC/SA67. Here’s a video of a slightly newer SA67D rebrand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmOcISpYN2M

On another topic, look what came up on eBay! An ESL 206, which is what Gillette rebranded. I have the Gillette version, but I REALLY want this one now!

Wow, and dirt cheap too! For me, I don’t mind normal wear and tear on an alarm, as long as it is still functional. It feels older when it’s yellowed and dirty. Definitely a rare find here, especially with its OEM branding by ESL.

Another possibly rare alarm found on eBay:

These smoke alarms seem to be Jameson rebrands of the FireX FXW-1A. These are battery, though. They could be rebrands of the later Sunbeam Centurion smoke alarm that was a battery-powered rebrand of the FireX. It looks like these have the electronic horn, since it says “advanced solid-state horn”

If you really wanted it, why’d you post it on the forum? XD But I wont bid on it don’t worry.

Yep, it’s basically a Sunbeam Centurion II! Has the housing of a Firex (with Jameson React), but the circuitry of the Centurion II (Piezo horn.)

Here’s a video of the Centurion II in action:

And, for those curious, yes, there was a Centurion I (just called the Centurion). Here’s one of those in action. (Skip to 8:00 to see it).

Note that there was an earlier Centurion with no test button! They both used the same squealer horn though from my understanding.

Interesting video: Here’s a First Alert 86RAC that has been in a fire… And is still going off. Kind of.

Look what I found! 2 BRAND NEW probe 101’s for sale on eBay! I’m definitely gonna bid on these.

Also, a question about the probe I posted above. Does it have a mechanical of piezo horn?

Very rare alarms. I actually have one. It’s deep and storage, so I can’t get a picture right away.

Looks like this one is based off the Smoke Signal SS-200 platform.

Wow, that first one is OLD! I’m not gonna bid on the Probes, instead i’m going to bid on this FamilyGard FG777. I know FireAlarmFan has one:

Also, I wanted to show everyone the progress on my smoke detector display wall:

Very nice looking display wall you’ve got. And good luck on the FG777.
