The Anti-Fire Alarm Trashing Police (TAFATP)

So you’re saying that the Britamerican voice is… copyrighted?

Frankly, what isn’t these days?

Anything you do not own, did not create entirely by yourself (like an original character), or is a “derivative work” (based on something else) is copyrighted.

I’d expect everyone here would know this by now, why do you think @Destin developed the login system on his old site, or why I am gatekeeping the EVAX files Potter sent me?

It’s just that since the Britmerican voice is old (just like EST Guy) and was created during the GE era, Edwards is less likely to care about it, especially since it was so short lived.

I will look for any ANS info and the audio file.

Alright, I look forward to future news, thank you for your efforts Pilot!

Yes we really appreciate you. Dude, you’re cool :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:.

I’m probably on the customer ban list because I bypassed smart sync on my truealert.

I didn’t see any files on the cd that matched those names. Is there something more specific to look for?

I guess just any audio files (e.g. *.mp3, *.wav, etc.).

What I noticed is that with every instance of the voice being used, the temporal 3 Integrity tone is used with it.

Another thing, this appears to be the same voice used in the “DTMF 111” voice evac videos, which allegedly featured EST IRC-3 with EVAC.

“Britmerican” and “EST Guy” are just nicknames, I call the voice in this video below “Britmerican” due to how the accent sounds:

Try checking any International voices.

Yes, except for the very first one. Good observation though: that might indicate that messages with that voice actor voicing them are from the era when the Integrity was still Edwards’ main notification appliance product line (before the Genesis-series came along in 2000, though I suppose that doesn’t explain why several of those systems have Genesis-series NAs now that I think about it).

Maybe? I wouldn’t know myself for sure though.

Hell, I seen that one video of an EST3 system that had a Simplex message and it used the temporal 3 Integrity tone with Genesis speaker strobes.

Oh yeah, that 2015 video.

Yeah, that one… I would think that the system was originally a Simplex 4100-series panel before it got upgraded with an EST3, although that’s just my guess…

Joey Caridi made this theory in the comments of that video:

Interestingly, the quality of that message (especially that fan-like background noise, and the slightly higher pitch) sounds very similar to the old Thesdx ones from firealarmcollector.com.

You’re absolutely correct, it does sound like the thesdx audio rip of that message. Still doesn’t answer my question about the Britamerican voice though…

I really want to get that EST3 I have working so I can find out myself. Although I’ll need to learn how to programme the thing.

I don’t think that particular message exists in the Thesdx library, but I was referring to the similarity in quality.

About the “Britmerican” voice, I believe it was possibly supposed to be an International or Global voice package.
This video of what appears to be a religious ceremony/demonstration in Vietnam is very telling.

It is very possible that “Britmerican” accidentally ended up on a few U.S.-installed systems, or some AHJs require it over an American English voice like EST Guy.

To be perfectly honest I have no idea at all why it’s in that kind of video of all ones (unless maybe a fire alarm interrupted part of the event?), but it’s just another example of that message & that voice actor that I happened to find.

Still can’t say I hear any accent at all in that message (& thus in turn see any reason it wouldn’t be meant for use on any country’s systems), but alright.
